Our Countries Priorities????

I was just watching Little People Big World on TLC. They were showing dwarfs having surgery to help them walk better in Iraq. I think it is a good thing to help others, I have done my share, but why is our military flying dwarfs in Iraq from point A to B for surgeries and using our military hospitals to do them in and keep them for recovery and future check ups?

I understand trying to use this type thing as a peace offering ploy to the Iraqi people to make the American people look good to the Iraqi's. But, when was the last time you saw the US Military fly an american child to and from a surgery especially one that is not due to a life threatening condition.

The current conditions of our own economy being what it is, how can the US government justify the use of our military equipment to do these type of things in Iraq? I am not a heartless person by no means, but am getting a little tired of seeing the government more worried about convincing other countries that we are the good guys instead of tacking care of it's own first!

With so many families here in need of these and other type of services it really bothers me that our government uses our money as tax payers to do this with. I'm sure when we finally get to hear where all the stimulus money is going there will also be money set aside for other things of this nature. We the tax payers will receive an additonal $13.00 per week on our pay checks, and other countires will receive BILLIONS??

This just confuses me a bit....Please don't look at this the wrong way, but who should our government be taking care of first????JMO

I wasn't a doctor in the Military, but I was a Combat Medic. I know a little how these things work.
Yeah our government is probably doing some of this work as a goodwill gesture. But remember this, those Doctors and Nurses that are over there serving get paid the same whether they sit around, (which they don't do a whole lot) or ar in an Operating Room, working on a soldier or a less fortunate citizen wherever they happen to be stationed. It is costing us the taxpayers about the same no matter if they do the surgery or not.

It also is good that these doctors get to hone the skills they have in the OR.

thats true. i know i would rather the newer dr.s learn to carve up foreigners before other us citizens.

heard this morning that its down to $8/wk. did not hear if that was before or after taxes tho....hmmm.

These doctors they brought in were specialists from California on a mission for these surgeries, not new doctors learning but the top doctors already in their fields of practice.

I'm not pointing out the doctors that are there anyway, but these doctors that were brought in and using the military's equipment for this show. I know that the US is trying to show that we are doing humanitarian type work in Iraq, but using our equipment paid for by the US taxpayer for "Little People Big World" is not a neccesary showing of being a good humanitarian in my opinion.

I do not see anything wrong with the war in Iraq, I do think it's went on too long, but is something that needed to be done for us to win the war on terrorism. But, when the war has went this long, and cost this much maybe this type of spending is one of the reasons.

Everyone keeps saying that our military men and woman are in desperate need of new equipment due to the sand destroying the older equipment. Maybe money would be better spent in updating the equipment for our troops than for surgery for a tv show to be made.JMO

atleast if they are going to drive us into debt for next couple of generations, give us something we can use. like ol Busdh I think we got 1,200$ and paid off a credit card, and some how gas fell under 2 $ a gallon all coon season..............

Only Knowing Half of something, and than building your language/life around it... is what this country has become.

to know all of something would be to.... want to know the truth of the matter........ and not to many minds, nowadays want to know all of the truth...... it ruins there mediocre plans that sound so,so.....smokey ....big.

Time will tell..... just the truth might be twisted... so all can feel good about it.

funny how that part is always left out.
I think it is stupid that they use 15 inck pins to sign a bill. The ones they use are probably a couple hundred bucks each.

What ever happened to helpin the those who have been discharged for medical reasons. Oh yeah we hve to sit on the back burner till they want to deal with us. They wonder why the suicide rate is high for the military. Cause of the B S we have to deal with. Before for anyone ask me what have I done for myself in this situation. I have wrote the letters, called a few members of congress, and went to state capital to get things figured out. All they have to say was. Sorry we dont have you paper work. GREAT LOST AGAIN.

There was NOTHING racial about my statement. It's simply proven historical fact....

I did not say that I hated slaves.... Rather what I said was that Abe Lincoln hated slaves, and his freeing the slaves was not out of a love for slaves, but rather a hatred of slavery. In fact it was not necessarily a hatred for slavery, but rather the fact that slavery put the southern states in a position of "power" that he felt was not good for the union of states.

But I guess that is not the issue...

The reason that I even mentioned it was the fact that President Obama has chosen to align himself with the image of Lincoln...and the fact that there is more to the Lincoln story than what is taught in the average American elementary school history lesson.

That is the long and short of it. Nothing about a persons race should even enter into the conversation.....

yes race really is a nasty card to play.

The Straight facts.... Lincoln wanted the slavery issue out and the corruption behind it all, and he wanted to send em all somewhere else is a fact too.

But it didnt happen that way and it doesnt bother me at all.

I have alot of friends and at no time did anybody pick colors.

but corruption is a Choice, and the whole stinkin captial hill is full of it nowadays.

there is another post right now about tea-party's and hunting rights. somebody say GO.

So did Hitler I guess...Who by the way was elected......The stimulus package, which is not just the work of our interacial president but also our caucasion Speaker Pelosi and other democrats of all different races and genders......Who cares what color of skin they have....Don't make them more deserving or less deserving.....But when they are destroying our country with debt....We the People better stand up and be heard......Wall Street the main indicator....Cratered with the signing of the stimulus....Why?....Because people who know and understand the economy and money knows this deal was a pork spending back scratching payback to interest groups spendulous package that iwill not benefit the USA's economy.

A Race Thing...

Everything in this country has become a race thing. You have to watch everything you say now days as to not offend anyone. I have friends of many different colors, I can joke with them and call them names that people wouldn't like. Likewise they do the same and we laugh at each other and can joke about it.

I think you have people in every race that are beneth me, I don't care what color their skin is. Some people live better than others and live by a better code in life.

If everyone is so worried about race today, then why do we still have boxes you have to check about what your ethnicity is??

I would say if you were born in America, then YOUR American!

Why should someone born in Am,erica have to say they are African American, or a Hispanic born in the US. Most people that check these boxes have never been to Africa or Mexico...etc.

When the government has boxes that you must check for different races that aren't even correct then it is about race and always has been.

If you were born here, you're American, if not then check the appropriate box.

It's like slavery, everyone wants to use it as an excuse, but how many people have actually been slaves currently...and not their ancestors 100 years ago....Move on already and be just an American in the graetest country in the world and be happy your here and not a 3rd world country!!JMO

My point is if Obama wants to identify with Ole Abe he can they are both Americans. Slavery had nothing to do with what he felt about Abe in 2009. Who brought up race? You need to read before you type. Oh yeah we own the land we hunt, no lease here! When some of you pool your money and buy ukc then maybe you can dictate who hunts where until then you are s.o.l..
