When your that close in, your receiver should say near, mine will not zero in that close, back out to about 10 to 15 yards and everything should be fine.

Make sure you calibrate not to close to the truck or buildings or inside..That will mess with them.

DON'T WORRY

ABOUT IT.I'VE GOT 1 COLLAR THAT DOES THE SAME THING,BUT ONCE I PUT IT ON MY FEMALE AND SHE GETS GONE,IT'S PRETTY DARN ACCURATE.i CAN HEAR HER TREEIN' W/MY OTHER DOGS AND HER COLLAR WILL READ THE SAME YARDAGE AS THEIRS.YOU SHOULD BE FINE.

so what are you saying u track your dog and u get to close ,and it wont read accurate what if u cant see the dog or its dead ,I would hope u could walk within inches

I lost a collar in a briar patch when they first came out and the harness came off my dog having it on the compass page sucked so i went to the "show info" page and i walked/crawled right to it.

15 yrds (13 meters) is DANG good.
all GPS's have an error to them..multiple satellites triangulating..isn't going to be perfect. Is the compass on these units digital (free moving) or do you have to start moving like an older e-trex gps for the nav arrow to move?

They are a little different to get used to. But i assure you as soon as that sucker shows you a road that would save you a 2 mile hike, you will quickly say best money ever spent. I did.
