Jingle Bells???????????????

I have been having trouble with coyotes coming in on my 2 pups when I take them for their walks in the day time. I haven't had any trouble at night since I started using lighted collars on all of my dogs. Well I have read on here & other sites where if you put a bell on them that it will help keep the coyotes away. So last week I ordered 4 SWISS BELLS, one for each of my dogs & the bells came in today & I thought that I would try them out. I loaded my two pups up, (they just turned 7 months old) & went to one of the places that I been having trouble at, when I hunt in the summer time at daybreak. Well let me tell you "THE FIRE DRILL" started when I snapped those bells on them. Usually they are out of sight in a couple of minutes, NOT TODAY. They started trying to see what was making that noise under their chin. They had me wrapped up with dog leads in a heart beat. So I started trying to lead them down a little woods road & things got worse. They would go behind me & poke their heads between my legs, & there I am trying to walk with two pups between my legs. So I decided to turn them loose, there was a little relief. The smartest of the two already had it figured out, that if he stood real still like he was froze in place that the noise would stop, all the while the other pup had his head poked between my legs. When I would get about 30-40 yards ahead of the one that was froze in place, I would call him & here he would come wide open,trying to out run that noise, & between my legs he would go, a couple of times one pup would be on top of the other & I would have two heads, one on top of the other sticking out from between my legs. After not quite a quarter of a mile, I had enough so I headed back to the truck with the same results. When I got home, I told my wife to come out & watch the show, it was the same way all the way to the dog pen. My wife was laughing so hard that one of the neighbors came over to see what was going on.

I put one of the extra bells on my old 10 year old female & she acted like nothing was wrong & wanted a chew stick, But it was a different story when I put the 4th bell on my 4 year old female, she hit her dog house like she was hit in the rear with a BOOT JACK & she hasn't come out of her box since.

Theres one thing that I'm wondering about though, & that is if the tone of the bells are hurting the dogs ears, sort of like a train whistle does.

Sorry for this being so long, but I thought that someone else might be thinking about getting bells for their dogs. I would say after today, to put the bells on at home & let them get used to the noise.

I'm sorry but that is the funniest thing I've read in a long while.

As far as the sound hurting their ears? I have no clue...I'd think the small bells that bird dog hunters use would be ok.

...I'm in tears... Hysterical... I just read the whole post outloud to Bob and I'm sure he thinks I'm insane! LOL.. That was priceless... We're VERY sorry the experience was... not what you had planned but You DID give us both a Great laugh... and Bob made me laugh even harder when he said "Well, He Kept the coyotes away right?" LOL...

You may want to Try Falconry Bells they are very fine bells and if your ears are good they can be heard up to 1/2 mile.
each pair comes in to different pitches ..
