offsite kennels
Anybody keep their dogs in a diffrent location from where they live? I was talking to a guy here recently who has bought property planning to build a house in a year or two but already moved his dogs out to the property, now the dogs are 10-12 miles from his house with nobody to keep an eye on them. I don't think I would do that. How about you?

No way would we do that here.
Jamie gets aggrevated when I park the camper between the house and kennels.
She says she likes to be able to see the dogs when she looks out the door.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

My dogs are at my dads house, and I live with my mom. I hate IT, it is such a pain to drive out there and feed the dogs or work with them on the bench or what not. Seems like all I get done doing is driving back and forth!

My dad did it off and on for years. He kept hounds 12 miles away from home but 4 miles from his work. What a hassle. Weekends he'd have to make a separate trip just to care for the dogs. Wasn't bad when he was hunting hard but when he wasn't it was a hassle. It was a less than ideal spot as well. Had to carry water aways to them, also right off a major highway at my grandparent's place who were seldom around. Someone could have run off with them at anytime.
When a dog is "out of sight" it is easy for them to be "out of mind", easier to convince yourself to just feed and water and go home and stay there.
Over the summer, we moved the "spares" and the pups a mile up the road from my place, out of town. Close enough that I could hear them barking at night if something was going across the yard. Nice spot to go out and walk the pups in the timber too. That wasn't bad. Enough traffic in and out so I wasn't worried about them being stolen.
Nothin' beats having them out in the yard where you can monitor them from the house and where you feel bad at night when you stay home.
