every thing else is second. you know how it is growing up not allowed to listen to nothing but country. found my self listening to country again in the 80's. Sweet Home Alabama changed everything, nothing else compared. Sad day when Ronnie died, Billy Powell died on my mom's birthday.
Yes Heckler, seems like something always happens to the good ones.Be it a dog or a singer.Molly Hatchets lead singer,Danny Joe Brown died in 2005.Well, at least their voices live on in the cd's that we have.
I was thinking the other day why couldn't it be the ones that suck and are still trying to sing looking like death eatin an onion sandwich up there on stage.
I forgot the Eagles are still puttin out some good ones.
Eagles
Yes,they are still great. They just sold out the new Sprint center in Kansas City,Mo.
Man how could I have forgotten Blackfoot. That reminds me of the time me and 2 of my long time friends were leaving Savanah,GA. We was up there workin. I asked my buddy which way did we want go home. Real quick he said, that ol Highway 95. Let's go down to Jacksonville, we'll stop down there and do a little partytin. Any how we drank cheap bourbon back then cause it didn't burn so bad and seemed to taste better if there was such a thing. I looked over at my friend and he was pourin the Old Crow into the empty Wild Turkey bottle. I said what are doin Larry? Larry said, "Well if we stop to have a drink with somebody, you don't want them to think we're cheap do ya?" We busted a gut, that joker was funny.
Cheap bourbon.
That is a funny story.
Blackfoot
Highway song and train, train.i hate to admit it,but i forgot about them too! They were really a great southern rock band.
I don't remember too much from those days, but that one stuck for some reason.
Here's another, we was huntin all night with a bunch fellers, and it got it close to day light and this ol boy fell asleep with his mouth open. My buddy broke off a twig and layed it across his mouth. We was standin there shinin our lights in his face laughin and he finally wakes up. He closes his mouth and still has this stick sticking out both sides of his mouth, looking around at us still half asleep. He finally figures out he has something in his mouth. We had a good laugh at his expense. He didn't think it was funny. He moved back to ILL or IN.
One of my classmates' mother went to the prom with Ronnie Van Zant. Huie Thomasen of the Outlaws died last year or before. That good hard livin is catchin up to them ol boys. I got a cousin up in Clarksville, TN that plays in a bar band, my Dad was tellin me the drummer used to do a litttle stunt doublin for Jim Varney, "You know what I mean I Vern?".
Ernest
Speaking of Jim Varney,He is dead too.I use to watch all those Ernest movies.Ernest goes to jail, etc.
I guess were the only two that listens to southern rock.Nobody else is replying.Ha!
yep he was a goodun, now we got Larry the Cable Guy. Ron White is better, but needs some new material.
The Outlaws
Back to the Outlaws. Most of them are dead. You are right, that hard, fast, living catches up with a body.
I only know of one guitarist dying, who else died?

yes I knew it ,but there's country folk all over. I got a friend from upstate New York, but you can't tell it. He's one of them old toothless bikers. Good dude, he's and Indian, Mohegan or Mohican? I ain't sure.

That's probably the guy who crossed over into country with a band he formed called Black Hawk. I seen Montgomery Gentry and them guys were loud. They played some Blackfoot cover songs and did real good.
Hay Heckler this yankee boy listens and enjoys southern rock...How about John Fogerty and Creedance Clearwater?
