Pup

Hunt the pup with a dog that's already broke.

Catch and release a couple coons in front her let go for about 5 minutes or so before you cut her. Also try and hunt her where you have a good chance of putting her on a good hot track.Good luck with her

Put her with a good broke dog and have lots of patience. Hunted my pup quite awhile but NOW...He is striking a lot himself, treeing good, hunting better and better. Experience is everything. Put him with a good broke hound till he knows whats up and is doing really good then hunt him alone.

If you have not got access to another dog, take you some tires and hang them from trees and fill them with soured corn. Hunt him 1 trip on the feeders then hunt him 3 trips off. Dont overdose him with feeders but, the point is to get him to use his nose so if you accomplish this, take him off the feeders. Its too easy for him long term and could make him lazy.

A lot of patience is the main tool you need.

When you least expect it he will be gettin it done if its in the cards. My hound was a slow learner. He was 3 months of hard hunting but he has a very good start now and will finish out nicely I think. Sometimes I thought he was not gonna get it done...but now he can drive a coon like a deer and is only getting better.

pup

she's gettin very well on tracking the coons..
but whenever she gets to the tree she'll get up on it and thats it...
i encourage her to bark up it but all i can get her to do is jump up it and whimper at it

I had a young dog do the same thing, she started tracking early and would always be at the tree with the older dogs, and even treed on on her own one time( luckily her collar had a tree switch on it lol) we just kept dropping her with the older dogs and right before i had to sell her she was treeing hard with the old dogs.
Dont loose hope, she will figure it out, sounds like she needs a good old dog to show her shes supposed to bark at it.

I heard that mine is running tracks alone and treeing a little but, he has a long way to go still. But, in the last 3 trips things have really turned on for him. Too bad this winter storm has to come now. I am just now putting him alone a little but only about 1 drop a night. He still needs work at the tree just like yours. Mine barks up with other dogs, but by himself he hasnt learned to "stick it" for a long period.

dont forget to keep it fun and dont push too hard right now, she is young and you dont want to burn her out.

same...

friday me and a couple buddies went huntin..
she ran with the other dogs, but when they got treed she was sniffin all over a different tree beside it.. we squalled the tree the other dogs were on an found the coon in the tree she was sniffin... it would have been fantastic if she had treed on it

sounds like you might have over done it with the hang ups & caged coons. dont show her no more. sounds like she's useing her eyes instead of her nose on the tree.
