Anyone care to share there best coon bait for trapping with a live trap? ive used fish products in the past havnt had much luck..

i usually spread peanut butter on the trigger and spread cat food around the trap and inside.

i get the out dated honey buns and doughnuts from 7-11 they work great..peanut butter also works good...

i have always used a can of jack mackerel and only open it half way. then put at the end of the trap past where the release pad is. by leaving it half open they will sit and fool with it to try and open it and it has worked eveytime. for me anyways.

like larry said location is most important my best spot is near the mouth of culverts and i use vanilla extract poured over sweet corn sweet corn is available frozen year round.
vanilla extract odor carries a good distance

peanut butter works very well but if the rut is on i ussually have alot of trouble catching coon in a live trap.. sardines work well to

Friskies from the dollar store. It has to be Salmon flavored it works the best. I caught 111 last summer in box traps. Just crack the lid so they have to work a little

gotta watch that stuff if where your settin has a lotta grinners you'll have one everytime the sweets tend to just catch coon don't know why that is well thats the way it usually goes for me anyway

i agree with kody, fish (tuna, makeral, sardines) are good for coon, but also for slick tails (also known as grinners) sweets, corn, and peanut butter like others said work good.

I just soak some dog food in real concentrated grape coolaid. Works good and you dont catch much junk at all. Some times you will get a grinner. But I only catch him once!
