too many pups to train i need advise

I have a bluetick,and a redtick that are 14 months old they both do a good job on a caged coon,but when put out with my finished hound they loose intrest,and begin to play.weather together,or alone.what should i do..thank you your advise would be greatful

I consider a 14 month an adult young dog not a pup. These young dogs should be running and treeing at this age. Have you hunted them any at all it sounds like the lack of hunting is your problem.

TAKE ONE AND LEAVE ONE AT HOME UNTIL THEY BOTH START RUNNING AND TREEIN'.BECAUSE PUPPIES WILL BE PUPS.BUT THIS WILL BE BEST FOR EACH PUP,FOR AS ATTENTION LEVEL GOES.

I don't have much time to hunt in the summer months,because of work,and it gets dark so late,thats why when i do go i take both dogs,but that will change now that it's getting dark sooner.these dogs have treed by theirselves,but never when season was in so i could knock one out to them.to many tattle tales around to take a chance.thanks for both of your comments..mike

The advise of just taking 1 at a time is very good advise. 2 pups will play and get into mischief while 1 may concentrate on treeing coon. If your 14 month old coonhound pups are treeing a few on their own, they are doing good. You are correct in waiting untill coon season to really get them going good. When you start dropping coon night after night, the pups should begin to improve quickly. At that time, you could hunt them together, their playfulnes should be over.

Find someone that will hunt one of the dogs for you,you don't have to take it to someone that makes a living off of training/hunting dogs,find a youth hunter or just someone that will take it once or twice a week.I found someone that hunts one for me twice a week for only $100 a month.

HUNT THEM YOURSELF

SO YOU WILL KNOW HOW THEY ARE DOING FROM TRACK TO TREE, AND THEN IT MIGHT BE WORTH IT TO LET SOMELSE HUNT THEM AWILE.

one at a time... that is big time great advice... one pup cant stand to be left . will go with old dog if hes ever going to. two may be just as happy to play as hunt... doesnt hurt to let them play before you hunt. then take one.. pete

thanks for all of your replies they are greatly apprecied.should i keep turning coon loose to them until they do it with ease?i've been thinking about waiting longer till i turn they dogs loose(about 20 min)but i'm afraid the'll start to backtrack,and they say there's no cure for that.thanks for everyone's advise...mike

If they'll tree a turn loose with out seeing it run off or seeing you turn it loose, Then you just need to keep taking them one at a time with a older dog. They should start going with it. Then hunt them by there self in good coon or on feeders. Then take them off the feeders.
