coon hunt club

I am a member at 2 local clubs and we are experiencing the same problems at both clubs. I have just got home from one of the meetings and realized I have read some really good responses on here about different topics so I am willing to see how much help I can gather from you all. We are having problems getting participation in our events from our members and outsiders. It is scary how we can barely get guides so my question is what can we do to get more participation from our members and also what can we do to get more dogs?

i'll try

the 1st thing is do you give away trophies at your hunts or does everyone just get a slip of paper. people like trophies to show for. another thing is have youth treeing contest, field trials, water races. this helps get some of the older hunters that can't do the hunts anymore, and gets kids wanting to come back. we give every kid a trophy that participates. i have several other ideas that might help if you need it.

eddie harp
sooner cooners

it is word of mouth that gets people to come .look at some clubs that are doing good see what they do and how that you dont.. not that it will work for you but it gives ideas. from what i see more than any thing that hurts clubs is people sitting around bitching about some one in the club. it takes a few good guy'gals that work good together have plent of good fair price food, have all the events you can with out running yourself raged and have them on time with not too much down time between them. if you have a bunch of cocky guy's weed them out have a good place to hunt and put out flyers so every one know's what when and where you are doing it. i lived in this area for 6 yr's before i new we had three coon clubs in 20 min or less of me,,,
