each year, each day, gets better if you're ready.

I've been clean and sober since September 23, 1983 - and I'm more grateful for my life that God gave back to me than ever. Somehow, God's importance keeps getting bigger and "we" get a little smaller in the big picture.

Congratulations on your year!!

congratulations

Butch,we've never met,but after reading your post I feel like I've known you forever.I myself had a bad addiction to Cocaine and Alcohol. Not many people in the coonhunting world know that because I'm not very proud of that fact.Matter of fact,I don't even like to even think of it.But,I am proud of the fact that I finally kicked that monkey off my back.I never realized how good life could really be.And I thank the Lord every day for it because he answered my prayers.I'm slowly but surely getting my life back together. And it just keeps getting better day by day.Keep up the good work.I'll be praying for you.

Congratulations to you Butch and also to every one else who is fighting and winning the battles that seek to over whelm you.

God does help when you let him AND YOU DO YOUR PART! God provides food for the sparrow but the sparrow must get off the limb and seek it.

CONGRATS extended to you, Rob! I have never had any sort of addiction(other than NailBiting....) BUT... I have been friends with a few "survivors" of addiction... It is a TOUGH battle, especially when you reach the cocaine stage. I watched a dear boyfriend struggle thru and then rise above his cocaine addiction... with his Faith he was able to kick that and has lead a productive, wondferul life for nearly 30 yrs....

Bill(Chew)s Post is a great one! To all of you who have faced any personal demon and won the battle congrats and to all who are currently fighting the battle you are not alone! You have our thoughts and prayers!

Heather

Congrats! I haven't had a drink for 2 years. I didn't drink alot just every once in awhile. My medication doesn't allow me drink. Best thing in the world. I don't miss it one bit.
Reading this post gave me goose bumps. It takes alot to quit drinking. First you have to want to quit. I'm glad you made that decision. There are better things in life than drinking.
I have never met you either but now with this post I feel I have. If you pray to God he will answer those prayers. Sometimes not the way we want him to but he will Always answer your prayers. You will now be in my prayers every night. Thank you for posting this and again Congrats!

capt, some people can have a drink or two and stop there some people can't. to the ones that have a problem with drinking and have done something about it. I tip my hat to you. I have never had a problem with drinking but did give up smokes and skoal about 8 years ago. a fresh can of skoal still smells good. I can only imagine how hard a true addiction of drugs or alcohol would be to control.

Posted by Lowell Lynn on 12-18-2008 11:59 PM:

Capt. I hope you wont serve your guest drinks without them having a designated driver. Wouldnt you hate to be an accomplice to man slaughter? Now, On with the congratulations!!!!!!!

Be careful Butch, that male pup you got out of Grit may drive you to drinking again. Lol. Good luck with the holidays, and keep them lookin' up on the hard wood.

P.S. Make sure they are under 100 pounds. lol.
