Ever have this happen??? Odd colored pups

A guy brought his walker female to breed to my male dog back in early September. I kept her for 8-9 days and my old dog bred her 4 times before he come and got her and took her back home. After the pups were born I got a call and he said most were open spotted with one being a high tan color...Sort of like the "Impressive Presswood" dog you see advertised on here some. No problem... I was excited to finally get some pups from my old dog.

Fast forward to when I go to get my pick.... When I get there the pups are open spotted, but the spots are more of a dingy tan than black or brown and the high tan colored pup looks more like a german shepherd in color than a high tan walker.

I know nothing got to the female while I had her but my male dog. And he assured me that she was penned up for 2 weeks after he brought her home. Plus the date of birth coincides with the breeding dates that my male bred her.

Do you reckon the color could be because of the bloodline being so close. There is heavy Nailor blood on both sides?

I am leery of registering these pups even though in my mind I know he bred her, but the color of the pups has me concerned.

DNA them or just the pup you want to keep,& the parents.
That should alleviate your concerns.

I am going to call UKC tomorrow and see what i need to do and how much it will cost.

These pups definitely have alot of Yadkin river blood in them.

The color just threw me off a little bit and the more I thought about it the more I started worrying.

I will try and take some pics tomorrow and let you see what they look like.

all you have to do is swab the puppy for DNA and send it in with the parents numbers (which they should of all ready been DNA) and they will send the DNA back and tell you if it is out of those to dogs. I did this thru PKC once. it costs 40.00 I think

Anyone have any pics of odd colored Yadkin River pups they have seen?

Unless another dog we have never seen is a locksmith they are full blooded walker. And both Parents are DNA certified.

I am still scratching my head.

Odd color

We raised a litter out of Kicker one time and there were 2 that came out looking just about like your odd one........Ours were full blooded Walker...............I also had seen another litter sired by Kicker that some of the pups looked like that..........We culled the odd ones, but prob should have kept them. Kicker was out of House's Lawyer.........The pups we had were HEAVY Lipper top and bottom.

I really think it was some Bird-Dog bred into them somewhere down the line............

Get them DNA'd and you will know for sure, but I would say they are full Walker..........................Good luck..................Tim

Sorry but all the wishful thinkin in the world wont make that pup a walker, BUT that doesnt mean the whole litter is mixed. If some of them look like walkers you could have them DNA checked. Good luck.

I crossed a direct Wagers Stylish Lipper female I used to have with a heavy Lipper bred dog and had 7 pf the prettiest sky blue pups you had ever seen. They didnt survive past the first week.

I know for a fact this female was bred to my old dog and was under lock and key for over 3 weeks while she was in heat with no other male dogs on my property.

I have a local vet that DNA's cattle who is going to check the DNA on them just to ease my mind. LOL!

have bred lot of stuff out of flag, creek ridge sky breeding close, line breeding that may throw gray, blue eyes, some odd color, etc... often owned both parents, their parents, their parents etc.... does happen in some strains with dogs that may carry genes that replicate these outcomes....
