Question-Digging at Tree
5 year old male, that to my knowledge has never dug at the tree but now has started to dig at the tree after treeing. Dog has always been sound as far as tracking and treeing the only difference is that the dog has now changed owners. And after a few months is wanting to dig. Any ideas why? Thanks

Digging
Thanks-
Any ear problem can cause digging. A yeast infection can cause digging too.

Hunting him with another dog that digs will start it also.
Some of the best hide dogs (coondogs) i've ever seen would dig all the way around the bottom of the tree with the dirt dug out and the bark torn off barking the whole time. Just so they keep barking you don't need to worry about them leaving. I have a 6 yr. old that started doing this last year. Keeps a steady chop going, I don't mind.
