Stud Dog Blues
Why is it that no one will breed to my stud? All I want is pup out of him! I just dont understand. I dont know if he will reperduce, but some one could try him. I made him a nite ch and ch and put all his pkc money on him. Thats hard for a fourteen year old boy to do. So what if he is not "ALL GRAND". He's a great dog, but i cannot afford a brood female. He's bred great. My cruze off of Y.R. Cruze and Chico. And his mothers nailor bred. What's the deal?

Ask yourself if he wasn't your dog, would you breed your good bitch to him?
to tell you the truth i would, he's a goodlooking honest coondog that probably throws good pups

With all that Yadkin River in him ,he should reproduce. Do any of your hunting buddies have females?

Buddy there alot of nice dogs that would probably throw nice pups that don't get bred to, don't take it personal but the attention your dog gets must come local first then others may follow but ask yourself if you had a Gr.nite female and someone had a nite ch male stud that hasn't proved hisself on the reproducing end yet would you breed her to him.Probably not. Finish him out and see if some locals want to breed to him and then go form there. Too many people think that once they put a title on a male they think it is Stud worthy. Good Luck with your male and try and find a female to get some pups and see how they turn out.
THE BIGGEST THINGS ABOUT STUDDING A DOG IS THIS.
1. IF NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU DOG IS THROWING, NO ONE WILL BREED TO IT.
2. IF NO ON BREEDS TO IT YOU WONT KNOW WHAT HE'S THROWING.
SO, HERE'S WHAT WE DID, AND HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO GET HIS NAME OUT.
FIND YOU A GOOD FEMALE THAT YOU LIKE AND THAT YOU THINK WILL PUT SOME SUPER NICE PUPS OUT.
BREED THE TWO DOGS. YOU KEEP A COUPLE.
BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHO YOU PLACE THE OTHER PUPS WITH. DONT JUST PLACE THEM TO THE 1ST PERSON WITH A COUPLE HUNDRED BUCKS.
PLACE THEM WITH PEOPLE YOU KNOW WILL HUNT, EVEN IF IT MEANS GIVING THEM TO THEM. LET TIME DO THE REST.
WE'VE GIVEN AWAY MORE PUP OFF SID THAT WE'VE SOLD.
BUT THAT'S HOW YOU GOT TO DO IT. AND IT WONT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.
WE'VE HAD SID AT STUD SINCE 2005. AND HE'S JUST NOW GETTING WELL KNOWN.
HIS PUPS WILL MAKE HIM WHAT HE WILL BECOME.

EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
I dont need a GRNITE female, just someone close that would help me out with their brood female. And im trying to finish him.

You nailed it on the head! Mark
kyle i know how u feel u either have to win a big hunt for any body to take notice plus u have to have money to promote the dog there are alot of fees such as super stake ,performance, akc breeders this stuff is not free. i have a male had some guys come hunt that had real good females when we were done hunting they wanted to buy my male but i wouldnt sell told them they could breed to him for a pup. hes not all grand so they wouldnt breed to him. in time this will hurt the breed just my opinion.
Thats why i hunt mostly females. You have a good female you can shop around and breed her to any stud dog out there. It takes alot of time to campain a stud dog.If hes still young youve got time.

No one with a good female is going to breed to a dog that isn't/hasn't thrown good pups or one that isn't well known.
If you can't buy a good female, buy a female pup or two and raise them in hopes to breed to him.

There's nothing wrong with taking a shot in the dark but it might be a little too much to expect someone else to take your shot in the dark.
A few years back I found myself in your psition. I had a NtCh that was very well bred, a littermate to one of the winningest females alive at that time and I wanted a pup off him. I wasn't about to expect or ask anyone else to test my male with their female so I bred him to my brothers bitch who had produced 5 NtCh's and a GrNtCh out of her first litter of 7. I'm glad I took my shot. The female I'm hunting now is off that cross and I have 3 pups off her and her grandfather to start this spring. But if I had to rely on someone elses female, I'd still be wondering.
Man I know your pain. I think everyone who has ever had a dog they really liked wanted a pup out of that dog. I have two pups right now out of my old male. Will they make it? I don't know. But I had to make some cuts in expenses to get these pups. I counted it up and I have about $600 each in these pups after you add everything up. Vet bills, lost a yadkin river bred female and all her pups, one had to have a c-section and the only pup she had was dead, and the cross I have the pups out of is a line cross with his half sister. She's not even mine and I spent $200 on her. Get you a female and breed her. Make sure the female is what you like and try your luck. If you need any help or just to go for a hunt sometime give me a call 828-310-1907. Brian Teague

Man don't get down on stuff like a stud dog. It ain't worth it. If you don't have lots of money you are fighting a loosing battle. With all the studs out there today and the programs that are offerd, no one is going to bred to a no name dog rather it is yours or mine. It doesn't matter how good they are either. Don't take that the wrong way, but it is true. Not even all the world champs are popular stud dogs and they won the biggest hunts available. It does make you upset when you have a nice hound and can't get done what you want with it, but keep putting him in the hunts have fun with him. If he is a good dog they are few and far between so cheerish what you have and let the chips fall where they may with the rest. Good luck. Chris Baker
Thank yall
