Let them CRASH AND BURN

Here's whats wrong. Ford, Gm, and Dodge produce JUNK and sell it for 5 times what it's worth and now are wondering why no one can afford it. First of all it's junk with bad parts, bad gas milage, doesn't last, and on top of that it cost's way too much. Thank GOD for Toyota or poor folks like me wouldn't have a vehicle to drive. If you run yourself out of business by being greedy and stupid then you SHOULD fail and learn a few lessons and get back down to earth with everybody else. It is sickening to see those greedy scumbags fly in in there private jets worth millions or billions of dollars to go and ask the government for help. Where's OUR HELP?? I'm talking about the feller out making 6 or 7 dollars an hour and working to pay bills and living week to week. Wondering how he's gonna make it in this world. I think it's high time some of these rich, greedy, scumbags get back down to earth and reality with the rest of us struggling. I mean STRUGGLING. I say let em crash and burn.

Not a one of the men you are talking about will be living week to week if they go under. Only the people who work for them will feel it. What do you think will happen to all of the people that have retired from these companies when they go bankrupt? You just think the economy is bad now. I have no sympathy for the CEO I'm just thinking of the people that work hard every day for them.

Posted by willseeyalater on 12-09-2008 02:25 PM:

You like Obama so much but you are jumping ship on this issue. Don't you agree with Pelosi and Frank that the gov't can appoint a car Czar and do better and turn it around? Maybe we can nationalize all the car companies and they make three models....one cheap one with average mileage..call it a Trabant...guaranteed to run from the dealership to your house,

one medium priced one....call it a Proletariat....guaranteed to run for at least 10, 000 miles and run on its own exhaust.....a fuel called pipe dreams.

The third is what all the politicians will be driving...highend model...you have to be a party member.....call it the Premier. Runs on nothing as long as you sell your soul to the party. Runs best on roads paved with good intentions but the destination will be the same for all of them.

I agree with you on this. Let the car companies file bankruptcy, restructure their debts and business plan and they will survive by tightening up their britches and shedding some pounds. UAW is bleeding them dry all these years. UAW and the Democrats have been eating out of the same trough for to long now. THe food is running short but they can do fine with less.

If your making 6-7 dollars per hour its not anyones fault but YOURS. "Thank God for Toyota or poor folks" whats up with this?? You come off with some of the most ignorant things to say. LOL Im shaking my head. You also listen to the media.

You show me hard facts that Toyota is premo quality that never has recalls or problems in their autos and show me how the big three is complete junk, then I might agree with what your trying to say. Show me cost difference, gas mileage comparison, longevity between American and Foreign. Facts not opinions.

Walk off that MT of yours and take trips through the plants that make these cars and trucks and then make judgement, expand your education. I been through many plants of both foreign and American. They are competitors and both make quality cars.

Toyota is for the poor my rear. Go check the prices on your Toyota's and compare to any of the other three. They are not even comparable with Ford or Chevy. I can buy a Full size Chevy 4 door for what Toyota is asking for a 4 door mid-size truck that can barely fit a car seat in the back seat much less be safe for my kids. Check the Fuel mileage on a Toyota 4 x4 V-6 SR5 and it will not get much better gas mileage than my V-8 Chevy 1/2 ton Z71 and you give up a ton of power, room and comfort for what, high priced maintanence and repair on that Toyota. I like the Tacoma 4 -doors 4x4's but can't justify paying $30,000 for a Mid-sized truck.

The little people you're calling scumbags have been paying more taxes than you have from their steady jobs year after year AND will continue to do so if they still have a job. That's right, every one of them is a tax payer that's paying on everything are leaders have screwed up from day one. The tops making way to much but working people just want to work . If this was just about a handful of executives we wouldn't even be talking about it.

Lee is 100% correct, Toyota has had more recalls in the last few years than anyone else. what about the trucks they recalled and replaced, you think they did that out of the goodness of their hearts, no they did it because of the huge liability that they faced. They replaced a small number of trucks to save their reputation. What about the other 80% of the trucks that were already junked because the frame rotted in two like my sons did. If the auto industry goes under, so does all manufacturing in the US, you think the economy is bad now, let the entire industrial base of th eUnited States go down and see what happens. I agree that the Auto industry does stupid things, but that's what they need to fix, like the union that is strangling the companies, how can you compete in the market place when you are forced to provide wages and benefits that are 5 times more than all your competitors. How can you justify paying some fat lazy slob $35 an hour to drive cars out side from the assembly line, answer is, you can't. I'll bet the guy that made this original post is pro union to.

He is definately something of a Kind, I can't say one because there have been a few other's on here lately that are tetering on his category. Special!!! lol Kinda contradicting yourself their Sheep telling them to let them go under and then asking for help yourself.hmmm What ever happened to taking responsibility for yourself and your family and not asking for someone else for help. Most people take care of their own responsibilities and never think about asking for help.

I believe the Unions are as much to blame as the CEO's and the Gov and we all know who's back pocket the Unions are in. There should be more info for US the ones' that are going to eventually pay for this to keep many from loosing their jobs all across this great country, to really see what happened for them to be in the shape they are in now. I for one don't think the Auto Company needs to change Body styles every other year myself and this would have to save some money. Let's see the bank account the UAW is holding right now.... I don't know alot about the Auto Industry but I believe all to be at fault here the Gov., the UAW and the BIG THREE.

Fat...lazy??? No, Dave the job you just described does not make that an hour. As a matter of fact they make $26 and hour, and 'just driving the truck' is not the entire job description. YES. I agree the Big Three in a whole made a lot of mistakes at the higher levels. They have unneeded management on the floor, they waste a lot. Many things can change, but, this can not be entirely blamed on FAT LAZY FORD WORKERS!
On another note, everyone that is bashing the auto workers, has anybody looked at the whole picture? Have you any idea how many people are going to be out of employment? I think I read somewhere that if Ford went down there was something like 68 million people out of work. That's not just Ford workers, it's also their suppliers and vendors of parts, also think about the cafeteria people, waste management people, truck drivers, warehouse workers....it goes wayyyy behind the FAT LAZY FORD WORKERS.

You can't say let them crash and burn. Those fat cat CEO's won't suffer. Its the line workers etc that will suffer. I know a lot of people in the auto industry in Michigan and they are scared to death. What are they going to do about their homes? Feeding their kids?

To say let them crash and burn is pretty heartless.

So a man in Michigan that makes 40 or 50 dollars an hour deserves to get bailed out but a man in Georgia that makes 6 or 10 bucks an hour deserves to just go bankrupt and end up under a bridge????? What about the thousands and thousands of folks that were allready barely making it that have allready went under or are going under right now? They can kiss there butt's goodbye but a man that allready makes 150 or 200 thousand a year needs help? How many set's of rules are there???

Already unemployed...no help? The unemployment office not only pays unemployment benefits, they also offer a job location service. I looked in the paper just yesterday, many jobs out there for the unemployed.

Obviously those that think FORD, Chevy, and Dodge workers make too much...have never stepped into the assembly plant and tried to do those jobs. Granted, some are quite simple, some...well let's just say aren't. I've been with Ford 16 1/2 years, I'd be glad to take you into our plant and let ya do whatever job you want to try.
As a matter of fact, we have employees that hired in as TPT's and TFT's that agreed to $14 hr. with no benefits. That means no vacation days, no sick days, no Holiday paid days, and of course, no insurance. You have no idea how many surgeries I have had to have because of that place.

You're not paying attention. It's not the line workers fault the CEO's are greedy bastards. It's not the suppliers fault the CEO's spend $500,000 on personal use of company jets. To blame the workers for what the CEO's have done is not right.

no your right. It's not the workers fault for the stupid choices the greedy ceo's make. But here's my point in a nutshell. The poor folks in this country allready suffered somewhat all along. Now the poor folks are not just poor but dirt poor. Now also, the rich folks may have to suffer juuuuuuuust a little. But o my o my let's bail them out and save them before there hand's get dirty or they face some adversity like the rest of the country!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a bunch of garbage.

Just so you're aware. In order to be able to pay ALL your bills when you get them in the mail and write a check without thinking about it etc you have to be making NO LESS then $17.00 an hour...anything under that is considered WORKING POOR.

I agree the poor are getting poorer. I'm in that boat. I agree the "rich" should pay their own way etc BUT who decides who is rich? How much is rich? To me if you're making $50,000 you're rich but its not the same for everyone. It also depends on WHERE you live....COL (Cost of Living) is different state to state and county to county even.
