Grand American questions

I'm going to Orangeburg for the Grand American hunt in January and have preregistered to hunt both nights. I've never been to a big hunt like this and I'm wondering about the way things are handled. We have to reconfirm dogs by 2 pm, but when do they draw the casts and when do casts usually leave the fairgrounds? How far might I expect to drive from the fairgrounds to hunt? I'm driving down from Pennsylvania and probably won't get to Orangeburg until about mid-morning on Friday. I'm wondering how much time I will have to get checked into the motel, get oriented, eat, etc. Thanks for any information.

Sign up at 2, Draw the casts at 4 or 5 and you could drive over an hour to hunt, or more, most casts that are going far leave as soon as they get drawed. Hope you dont hear your number called for HELL HOLE

Has anyone got thier letter telling them they are in the hunt? I didn't mail mine until the last minute and would really like to know if I'm in or on the wait list.

I mailed mine about a week before Dec 1st and it showed up in the mail Saturday. I was number 155 for both nights. Anyone have the exact address of where it is held?

I mailed mine on nov. 30th and got confirmation on friday. I'm number 200 on both nights. It is at the fairgrounds in orangeburg chris. I don't know an exact address but it really isn't that big of a town so its pretty easy to find.

If you look in the American Cooner it has the address. It's in an ad for another large hunt held in Orangeburg in February

grand american..............

I have never hunted in this hunt, but it sure is a popular one. I have chosen to hunt in the PKC added purse hunt Jan. 1st,2nd,3rd, in St. George S.C., not far from Orangeburg. The swamps should be full of water if they have gotten the rain N.C. has gotten lately. So you out-of state boys better pack alot of extra cloths, and a boot dryer.
Hopefully you boys can draw a good guide that has alot of coons, if not you can't win. That's why I don't hunt there, only the right cast will win.

We haven't had a PILE of rain this year...but I can tell you this, most of the canals at our deer club about 16 miles from Orangeburg were almost full when I was down there a couple weeks ago. There's definitely a LOT more water standing this year than last year. I don't mind it so much during late fall and winter, but all that murky water makes me a little nervous in the warmer months
