Heated Water Buckets

Who uses heated water buckets?

Is the cord on them really chew proof?

Where did you get them and how much?

Thanks.

heated buckets

I use them I have them in 6 kennels and think they are the best, I run the cord on the outside of the fence panel so the dogs cannot get to them. The cords are covered with a spring type wire but I would thing if it was chewed on long enough there would be sparks. I have 4 above ground kennels without heated buckets and it is a real pain keeping freshwater for the dogs. I purchased mine at the local farm store which in my area is Tractor Supply. I know if you don't buy them early in the season you will not be able to get them, it seems like after the first real cold snap they all are gone. I think I paid some where about $35.00 for the 5 gallon pails and $28.00 for the 2.5 gallon pails

I've wanted to do this, but how do you attach them to a wire fence panel, and keep the dogs from chewing them and or the cords?

I have a few...they are worth the effort!

I would put all of the chords in a conduit. PVC pipe is cheap and dang near indestructible.

As for how to connect them. I used the plastic milk crates. Wired the milk crates to the side of the kennel, then put the buckets inside the milk crates. Used a brass snap to attach the bucket handle to the side of the kennel.

The crate keeps the dogs from tipping the bucket, protects the bucket from bored pups.....that would want to chew them.

The heated buckets are over $20.00 each....so they deserve protection!

I got mine at Tractor Supply and love them. I've been using them several winters now and haven't had any trouble. It's nice for the dogs to be able to get a drink anytime they want to.

I bought one today at TSC and I am going to give it a try before I buy for the others. But I think that it isnt supposed to get below freezing until toward the weekend now...

I use them. I have 2 dogs that get bored and like to chew. So I used a semi truck brake drum to put over the bowl. Sits low enough and has a real big opening so the dog can still drink. But weighing around 100 lbs. the dogs can't move them. Love it. I still change the water every 2 days. Cords are on the outside and I have them wire tied to the fence on the outside. No problems. I have used these for many many years.

Dogs need water every day especially in the winter.

They cost around $20 each per bowl.
