Coon Club Buddy Hunts

We have a buddy hunt at our club the first thursday of every month. We take a $5 entry fee and turn around at the end of the year and have a hunt off. It has been great. We also are in a group of clubs that sends each clubs top four handlers to a year end hunt off. It has been a great time to get together with other area clubs and have a good time. Maybe even win a little money. Non hunting judges and no arguments. I was wondering if any other clubs still do anything like this? If you live around the Taylorsville, NC area and are not a comp. hunter but would like to be part of a local club and have some fun get in contact with me and we'll talk.

our club does the same, then the top four hunt for a $200.00 gift certificate..we have a 5.00 entry and the club keeps 1.00 per dog and the remainder gets split 50/30/20%..

Kent we have a blast don't we? Our club is not that large but we seem to always have a good time. I think it makes the club stronger and helps to improve member base.

Your right Mark. I would like to see our club and the clubs around us grow. The club is not there to make money. It's there to provide a place for coonhunters to get together and have fun hunting with eachother. If a little extra money is made it goes back to members in one way or another. Maybe a coat or in making a free hunt possible for all to enjoy.

Surely other clubs have ways to boost club support.

We do club hunt also Goochland club in VA cost $5.00 to enter we draw out at our club meeting and they have till next meeting to complete the hunt that way who ever is in that cast they can work out good time to fit everyone scheudule. at the end of the year the dog with the most cast wins wins the club championship if we have dogs with the same amount of wins we have a hunt off
we split the money for the year 1/2 goes to club the winner gets the other half of the money and a club trophey.

Our club is involved with three other clubs and each club sends the top dog. It cost $5 for each club hunt then at the end of the year each club puts in $50 and winner gets $200. Wish I could say we have as much fun as you guys seem to have. The ones we have usually turn into a huge pain in the A?S and seems there is always some arguing going on. I kind of hope our club drops out of the loop and lets someone else experience all the fun. I for one will most likly not have anything to do with it from now on. Good luck with your hunts and hope you keep a good thing going.

I know alot of people turn over a new leaf when money is involved. The main thing about it is we are all out there to do the same thing. Show our hounds in the woods. No sense in arguing over a little money.

I agree but tell everyone else that. I haven't hunted in it the last couple years so I have helped judge it when it has been our turn and it is nothing but a night mare. Would rather not even have anything to do with it. It's a good idea and all but for some reason it never turns out good. Love to go hunt with most of those guys but there are a few that ruin it from our club and others. Just seems like a big hassle to fool with it.

Posted by nccoonhunter197 on 12-08-2008 01:53 AM:

Take the money out of it and just put on a good supper and a drawing. Then when those money hungry guys are gone try the money again. Give a coat to the winner and run the low lifes out. You have to have good leadership in the clubs to set the rules and keep the trouble makers at bay.

That's right! We have a fine time and I don't think we have ever had an argument. Just the kidding around with eachother type stuff.
