question about .22 cricket's and chipmunks

I was thinking about getting one. My best friend whom I have hunted with many, many nights is convinced that I should not. He says I should stick with my Ruger 10/22. He says if I had one of those little tiny rifles I couldn't hit water if I fell out of a boat. Says there only good for folks with a really steady hand that are a very good shot. What do yall think?

I have cricket with a red dot and it shoots great, the only problem is the child lock it has built in, sometimes if you carry it on your back it will lock itself up and if you don't have the key your sol. I took mine out with a flat head screw driver though

i have a cricket and love it well it is mylittle boys it wont cut bullet holes but mine gets about and inch group at 25 yards with the cheap remington bulk bullets so some cci's might cut bullet holes but if u have a 10/22 just buy the ram line folding stock it folds up to about the size of a cricket and can still shot there toes off if u want to i think its about 35 or 40 bucks but there is nothing wrong with the cricket my little boy has a ball with it would be a good idea to wire tie the key to the sling though it sucks to pull it off your shoulder and the child lock be tripped

The sights that come on those kids guns are really bad. I would rather have a handgun.

I Have one with the red dot scope also. I don't have any problem hittin' them.

You shouldn't have no problem Jason. Possums don't climb very high anyways. LOL

I bought one for my would have been step son...I will never buy another cricket. I just didn't like it for what it cost. A pellet gun is a better investment. I carry a cheap ole crappy Marlin or a Ruger Mark III pistol. Pistol is the best, but is to loud even with sub sonic bullets. Sorry for everyone who likes them don't mean to offend, but they just aren't my style. I do know some people that hunt with them and swear they are the best thing since sliced bread. Just not for me.

Sheep:

You may be better off looking at the marlin little buckarooo

It's a small compact youth model that's light and deadly accurate.

I have a 3-9 scope mounted on mine and you can just about hit a nickel everytime at 40 yards.

Most possums though only climb out of the dogs reach, you could always just carry a big stick behind ole princess.

Sorry Sheep I just couldn't resist.

I would sell your 10/22 now while you have the chance. Once Obama gets in office he'll make them an illegal assault weapon that you cant shoot, sell, or own. Might as well get some money for it now before Obama takes it from you.

cut the peepsight out to a v sight on a cricket set the but end on your cheek & fire down on um. 2 1/2 pounds thats my choise.

I'll go along with the marlin little buckaro much better quality rifle than the chipmunk or cricket.

I will go along with Wakenda. I wanted a cricket a long while back but settled for the youth model Marlin Buckaroo. I love the little gun ! Still small, good open sights (but I have a pronghorn scope on mine) I should take better care of it than i do. I like it because it is a single shot, with a slide safety.

I like mine but the iron sights aret good at night. The scope mount is only about 12 bucks though. I took the safetly lock out too.

Posted by Virgil on 12-06-2008 09:18 PM:

I got one of the original chipmunks from years ago and I love it. It will shoot one bullet after another through the same hole at twenty five yards. It also doesnt have the child lock the crickets have. I have a laser sight mounted underneath the barrel and it is deadly accurate. I wouldnt carry any thing else. It is much better quality than the crickets as well.
