that used to be all that we had, great dogs, there are a few of them that are questionable, but thats like that with any breed, i think they r great dogs personally just a little lazy though lol

Posted by DCN on 11-19-2008 12:40 AM:

My parents raised them for years very good dogs. They do tend to be a little lazy. Very good family dogs.

I had a Rott and a Rott X APBT mix.

Of the two I prefer the mix. The purebred was unstable. I'm not saying that all Rotts are like that but Rommel was unstable. Only reason I kept him was I lived in a bad neighborhood and he kept the trouble away.

here is pictures of the two females i have for sale. I guess i dont have any of my male. He is awsome

I have

one. He is a Male smartest dog I own. Sirus the Virus is his name. I love him to death. Real good natured dog. I still respect him though he is a big dog.

We had three. Bubba, Dee Dee & Duke....They were all wonderful dogs. I can honestly say without any hesitation, that these were the best dogs we have ever owned. Bar non. All 3 have passed on in the past 2 years. Their ages when they died were 12 1/2 to 9 1/2. I will look up some pics and post later...

Nice dogs...but check with your home owners insurance first...alot are starting to not cover you if you own Rotts or Pits. You usually only find out when you really need to rely on your insurance policy!

I have never owned one, but been around lots of them. They are what you raise them to be. I have seen several that would bite you just for spite!! BUT I have seen even more that were great dogs. People says pits are mean dogs and will kill them just for showing up one their property one time. I have a pit that is probably the best natured dog i have ever seen. My chickens eat out of his feed bowl with him. My cats get in the dog house with him and snuggle LOL> My brother has a pit that my 3 yr old nephew rides like a horse, pulls on his ears, kicks him, etc. Hooch just eats it up, and will sulk if you take Noah away from him LOL> So I guess Rotts would be the same way. It's all in the raising.

WE have had 2 Rotties total, both females. They have both been fabulous pets and guardians. Our first, Heidi (RIP), was the most intelligent dog that I have ever been around--a GREAT, loyal friend and excellent around kids/family. Our current Rottie, Susie, is also a very good pet. She's very calm and great around kids, she loves the new baby that my sister just had. They both were/are reserved with strange people though, but that is something that we like to have around with all the talk about stolen dogs and break ins. The most I had ever seen them do is bark though, they never laid a tooth on anyone. Here are is a pic of Susie, our current Rottie.

My bet friend has had one for years and when her first one passed away from cancer they bought another. They are Smart, loyal and affectionate if treated well. Need training and plenty of exercise. If your Rottie is hyper you might need to walk it more. They are pretty laid back. And YES check your home owners policy. My friend and her husband had to pay extra for owning a Rottie.

Now if you want a critter killer our neighbor has an Alaskan Husky! That dog will grab a bird out of the air near a bird feeder and eat it right in front of you. I have seen her stick her head in a bush on a walk and come out chomping on a squirrel... She is a great hunter but only for her own satisfaction. Don't think you could get a kill away from her without losing a hand. LOL yet she is sweet and affectionate when not eating.

We have one as our family pet!! And he is great, big gentle baby but protective of the kids! not so much from people but if other animals come around. I know he would do anything to protect them. He's 13 months old and weighs about 90 pounds and growing. His name is SHREK and we love him. He is the 3rd one we've owned and all have been great dogs.

Rotts

I use to show them back in the early 80's. Nobody knew what they were back then. They were very rare and very expensive then.I have not had one in several years, but i think i will get one this spring.I have owed many different kinds of dogs. The rotts i had were hands down the best dogs that i ever owned.Good luck with yours.
