Question on legal rights
WHO HAS THE LEGAL RIGHT TO AUTHORIZE SEIZING DOGS?
We are hearing about an increase in raids on kennels across the country. But how many of these raids are actually legal, and who is authorizing the Police or Sheriff’s Department to accompany the organizations sponsoring these invasions? Do these organizations have a legal right to request law enforcement assistance?
Are you aware that HSUS trains all of the so-called Animal Control officers (ACO) nationwide and issues them badges? How many states have given these HSUS “Officers” the legal authority to utilize law enforcement for the HSUS agenda of eliminating dog breeders and multiple pet ownership? How much power has been given to HSUS by local and state governments? I believe we, as dog owners need to investigate our legal rights as they pertain to each state as well as to the United States constitution.
Recently the Animal Rights (AR) groups have begun utilizing local and state environmental laws as a means to immediately shut down kennel and multiple pet ownership locations. Do these AR groups have legal authority to “storm” private property without prior notification? And do these groups have legal authority to call on assistance from local law enforcement entities under the guise of eliminating undesirable facilities?
We, as owners of multiple dogs obviously need some attorneys on our side with an interest in maintaining our rights to own, breed and hunt our dogs. Too often, dog owners are being unfairly victimized and intimidated because they lack the knowledge and ability to legally defend themselves.
Also, we should take a page from Oklahoma’s book. Ballot Question 742 passed and guarantees Oklahoma citizens the right to hunt.
Based on the President-Elect’s public remark (I heard it on TV) that he will support Animal Rights, I believe we need to get busy in every state and follow the lead of Oklahoma.
