The Ultimate Bluetick Male

We have a thread going on the ultimate Bluetick female...how about the Blue male dogs, guys?

For me, it was Gary Uchtman's Ranger VI. He had it all in every department, and was the smartest hound I ever saw. He was always in the right place at the right time, had incredible coon sense, and a mouth out of this world. Unfortunately, he got tick fever before he could make a mark as a reproducer and was sterilized.

I owned him

This old hound was a son of Hammer X. never made an off bark, never caused any trouble anywhere, always was an accurate tree dog ,and would stay hooked with the best or in any kind of weather, and was always willing to give a 100 percent, and then some. Hunted deep if he needed to, but would not run through the country without hunting the territory out. He was independent, and hated to honor another dog, but would if they struck quick soon after they were unleashed, but once he got away from other hounds he was on his own.Never was competition hunted, never was bred to nothing other than my own dogs, and some local breeding. Would he have helped the bluetick breed I have no idea.

Here is a dog that is not well known that produces hounds most would be proud of.Jim Cartners True Blue Ace.Produced Brannons almost blue jillie and five more nite champions that iknow of.Two grands.Throws treedogs that are very easy to train.JUst another country coondog that will never be taken seriously.Jet 5 ,OLd hammer and hussler breeding.These were dogs that went through the hands of homer searls,anybody that hunted with homer very long knew how hard he was on dogs.

Jet V. Unfortunately, he was being hunted at the same time as the old Bess female and she made everything else look like a greenhorn pup! lol But don't take my word for it, ask Ed.

Ultimate Blue Male

This is a tough one... There are so many top performers out there that what I think is.... THEORETICALLY !!!!!!!!!!! Lets look at all of todays top performers, get a copy of there 7 gen. pedigree and determine if there is a common thread in them as far as running back to the same male dog perferably several times. This would show a indication of who was the best "sire of the foundation stock" of the breed to which todays performers can be traced to. As far as picking a current living ultimate male, I'm hearing great things about Jet 7 and Warren Sturtz's Rock.... Also Mulberry Blue River seems to be making an impact.... However as I said the list can be very long, so not to slight anyone I'll stop here... I'm glad I am having such a hard time coming up with just ONE, just doesn't seem to be just ONE !!!!!!

Jims ace and Warrens rock are half brothers same father [northern blue sampson] different mothers,sampson being from jet 5 and crystal.These two dogs may not be well known but have produced hounds in these parts that have pleased many.Im sure their are others,just giving credit to some good dogs.

hunted with several over the years that I really liked, but one of my favorites was never taken to town. Out of Uchtman's Rebel and North Star Blue Star. His name was Sabine River Tom and he was sure a pleasure to walk behind. Handled like a dream and would forever more go hunting hard and tree a coon. Buddy Harris owned Tom. He was stolen once and made a Nite Ch in the short time he was gone with a fake set of papers. If he was still alive, I would definitely breed to him. He was the total package that everyone is looking for.

Ultimate Male Blue Dog?

That is a question that cannot be answered by anyone or have the answer given justified by anyone. Everybody likes something different in each hound they look at. I may have a different idea about what I like than you, or you may love a trait that I can't tolerate. Or it could come down to simply just the luck of the draw in what hounds you have gotten from these different lines and studs. I think it is easier to just say there are good ones and bad ones in each line and leave it at that. And to anyone who thinks there is a dog that never misses or hasn't missed, wake up because you are seeing what you want to see.

I would say all time for me was Becks Talk 2 em Gus. I hunted with him a few different times. Currently would be Joel and Jake Appels Dual Grand Fly dog- I went down to Wisconsin hunting with him and a pup out of him-Boys he is a hell of a coondog-and the pup I hunted with is well on his way to being a top hound too.
