ive heard of SEVERAL lightfoot bred pups starting at 4 or 5 months old. thats pretty dang young. i would think the norm in most bloodlines is 10-12 months old tree thier first coon.
hope this helps.

i have had great luck with pups out of prowler and just started three out of mainstreet roy that at 5 months old are super nice dogs but as a rule i would belive the 10 -12 month age is right on target for starting a dog with good sucess

Fast Starter

Seth Isch has some extremely nice young english hounds. The pups are out of Charley VII and are fast starting hard treeing coon dogs.

CHARLEY VII

I personally like the Charley VII pups they start really early and make excellent coonhounds. Most of them just need to be hunted more than handled. Better get you one... you wont be sorry ! BTW I have never met the Isch boys. Just hunted with hounds out of Charley.

Buckley Creek Timber pups would be a good choice also. It's all in the breeding !!!!

I'll second that....I know that Burnette has had a few Rocky Creek dogs that have started real early and done a nice job...

This is CH PR ROCKY CREEK RED HIGH HEELS. She is my sister's dog, she got 4th place in her first night hunt the other night at 19 months old. She was the only dog on the cast to tree a coon. One night it was like a light bulb went off in her head and she has been treeing coon ever since. She usually has at least one split tree a night....She is off of Chad Nay's GRNITECH PR ROCKY CREEK SPIDERMAN....

I have a friend that has 2 out of Thunder and neither one started real early. They would both go with dogs and be at the tree and tree a little, but they didn't really start to click until after they were a year old. The male is 3 and a Grnt went to the world and is a coondog, the female is 2 and just finished to ntch the other night with 675+ she also won a English sectional a couple of months ago. I don't think it's how they start but how they finish. The dams to these dogs could have also played a part in these dogs not starting super fast.
