I don't like outcross breeding because of the wide variety of styles that are called coondogs. Breeding a hot nosed pop up dog to a cold trailing coondog would lead to very inconsistant results. I line breed to get very specific traits I am breeding for. That way, when a customer buys a pup, I can tell them of the traits the pups are likely to have and the style of coondog they can expect their puppy will mature into. I have had alot of folks call me and tell their pup turned out close to the way I described. I don't believe I could do that outcrossing.
