Young dog help

I have a young dog in training. Where I live there aren't many coon but enough to hunt. It is ROUGH country mountains, cliffs, however...I have a desire to train my pup in this rough country cause its been my experience that alot of flat country dogs cant hack it here. So my question is if I hunt my dog hard here and take it up north into thicker coon 1-2 times every couple weeks would that be a good strategy? I want a dog that can tree in the roughest of conditions not just one I can take up in flat country and tree coon.

Its been my experience a good dog in mountain terrain makes an even better dog when you decide to take a trip into heavy coon populations. Coon are smart here they pull some tricks on dogs I suppose thats due to being hunted a lot.

I do love hunting flat country but the gas prices certainly slowed me down with traveling to hunt. I also, however would like this dog to be able to cut it in mountain terrain.
