Rabies Vaccines
How many here give thier dogs a Rabies Shot without going to the vet?
I just got a NiteLite Catalog and they have 10 doses, complete with tags, etc. for about $30. Add in shipping for $10 and your at $40.00, which makes it $4.00 a shot. That's sure a lot cheaper than going to the vet for the shot.
With coon season coming up and my dogs about due for this shot, I was just wondering where I could go wrong with doing this?
Thanks,
Laura

It was my understanding that if given incorrectly rabies shot could damage the dogs nervous system, just what i heard.
Same here in VA. I think its 8.00 at my vet. But i save on the other vaccines , I give a (7) way Booster once a year.

my vet charges7 dollars. and here in new york a vet must give the shot as the law requires a rabies shot for all dogs cats and pet ferrets it must be recorded by the vet to be valid you can't get a dog license without proof of a rabies shot all dogs must be licensed in new york

I have given them before. I usually get mine from jefferspets.com. A 10 dose vial is 16.95 plus shipping with tags. Here in ohio the vet has to give it for it to be legal.

Our vet charges $10. a dog.. If they have never had a rabies vaccination it will be a 1 year rabies and if they have had a vaccination before it is a 3 year rabies vaccine.
You can give the rabies vaccine here yourself but it your dog ever bites anyone it is not reconized I am assuming by the state unless it is given by a vet. Plus if you give it yourself your vet will not give you a rabies tag or cert.
We always just spend the $10 and get the cert. & tag. We booster our dogs for kennel cough and 7 way every 6 month just because we take them every where and are around other dogs and just as a precautionary we just booster them.
