Arkansas State Hunt in Review

Congratulations to Nick Shaw for winning King of the Hunt, with a total of 1700???? I am not really for sure the exact hunt total but anyway outstanding job by his Walker male. Congratulations also to Floyd Walker for winning the Queen of Hunt. I am not for sure of point totals. I would also like to thank Robbie West, Jack Bean, David Johnson, Steve, Benji, T.J. Sission, and my daughter Sara Beth for the extra time that they spent in helping to put on the state hunt. I would also like to thank the state officers Joey Rosmond, Vickie Coleman, and Lee Don Hamilton for a fine job they did. I would also like to thank all the judges and guides that contributed to a very successful hunt. The hunt will be moved next year to a different location. We will let you know as soon as possible. If any club is interested in hosting the hunt please contact me or one of the officers. We hope to have the location determined by November. Again thanks everyone for your help and support. Steve Shock 501.796.8889 State President
P.S. If anyone has any suggestions of improvement positives or negatives please let me know as this is the only way we can better our hunt and show. Thanks again.

I don't think anybody is...

I wanted to congratulate Joey for a fine performance with 00 Buckshot. Two cast wins, and a total score of 858 1/2. Not much you can do when second place is 700 points out of first...

This was a really good event. This year was the first year that I have been to the Arkansas State and I was very pleased with the event. The location was great and the people were extremly nice. The show was really large for a state show especially with the gas prices so high. Hopefully I can attend next year, and my hats off to the Arkansas State Coonhunters Association!

Me and a buddy of mine drove 12 hours from Northern Indiana to the Arkansas state hunt. We got home late Sunday night. All I can say about this event is I had a blast. The people were all nice folks and made us yankees feel very welcome. I will definitely attend this hunt again.

P.S. Marcus Nance, If we ever draw out together in the future please, keep me away from them cottonmouths. ha ha.

Re: Vicki or Steve...

Well my biggest compliment to the show is the great prizes. We weren't in line to win anything fabulously extravagant like the dog boxes the hunt winners got but what we got for our two show wins were really great. I love the prizes this show gives. In addition to the trophies we got two of those coveted buy one get one free purina coupons for our bis female and ch male, beautiful camo purina caps, and those nice food bowls we save for traveling. The coupons along with what we got in louisiana will drastically reduce our feed bill this month. And those BEAUTIFUL blankets that ark state gives the top 8 show winners. I just love these blankets. They are so soft and beautiful as well. Beautiful fleece camo with the name of the show and the award won embroidered on them. The last two years we have given one of our award blankets to whoever took care of the dogs while we were gone for the weekend. I also keep one in the truck for traveling with my polar bear husband and one at my desk for working with the polar bear building owner! I swear he keeps our office at 50 degrees and all we ladies look like a bunch of nursing home grannies all wrapped up in blankets at our desks lol. These blankets are a really beautiful prize.

And the plaque I got for show handler of the year was the coolest thing i've ever seen! I don't know how to describe it except the plaque appears to be computer generated graphics and not engraved metal. It is a wood base with a plastic shield on which there are pictures of the six coonhound breeds and my name and show handler on it. And I got a windbreaker with show handler of the year on it as well - now I guess dwayne can have luke's king of show windbreaker from last year back now lol.

HUGE kudos this show for such lovely and unusual prizes!
