Attention All Breed Assn, State Assn, and Coon Clubs
Just a word of thought here........I was very impressed with Cindy Cooke's article this month regarding the National Animal Interest Alliance.........and here is my thoughts on how "WE" can become the 500 pound gorilla in regards to our sport and those wanting to makes laws about our sport and our dogs.
Cindy has a great point that we don't need to re-make the wheel, but we do need to ban together and work together to make things work our way so we do not always have to be on the defensive and start going on the offense !!!!!!!!
Just looking over this months Coonhound Bloodlines we have 34 State Assn...........and if each of those Assn became a Champion donor we are looking at $3400 in the pot. Now......lets take the average State and roll them into an average of say 10 clubs per State.......I know most have more than that (UKC may even be able to give us the number on record) but for this application lets go with 10 per those 34 States for local clubs.......now at the Champion level..........it's only $100 we are looking at $34,000 for the kitty..........and throw in the Breed Assn (6 UKC Chatered) at $100 each for another $600, and maybe the other 5 organizations would do the same we add another $500 for a grand total of ............... $38,500 to go to work for US........the dog owners, coonhunters......and don't forget to mention this to your local beagle clubs, bird hunting clubs........fox hunting clubs, who knows this is what we need to do to make "US" the hunters and owners of dogs become the 500 pound gorilla like the NRA is with gun owners.
I am going to ask my local club this month to become a Champion member of this organization..........same thing with my National Breed Assn "Bluetick Breeders Of America, Inc.........I feel it is the one thing we all must do...........
So what do you think??????? Lets get on the phones, call your State Assn President, your Breed Assn President, and bring it up to your local club at the next meeting.........heck one poor boy event will pay this and I can't think of a better thing to spend $100 on then to get something going that will look out for "US" the dog owners of a sport we love and enjoy.
Come on lets make this happen and lets become a force that politicians will look to for guidence when it comes to dogs and bills they are writing.
The following will be looking at this to become Champion members
Bluetick Breeders Of America, Inc
NorthWestern Illinois Coon Hunters Assn
Add your clubs name here if you are going to ask them to become a member !!!
We'll keep track of them and we'll see how we grow !!!!!!

MARK IF WE HAD EVERY,HUNTER WHO USES DOGS FOR THEIR GAME OF CHOICE,WE WOULD ALMOST BE HAS POWERFUL AS THE NRA, QUITE A FEW BELONG TO THAT ORGANIZATION ANYWAY.THE ANTIS WILL TRY TO DIVIDE & CONQUER.BUT THTS WHAT WE NEED A FULL TIME LOBBYIST JUST LIKE THE NRA,WE'D PROBABLY WORK HAND IN HAND W/THEM MOST OF THE TIME ANYWAY. SEMPER FIDELIS
Well I'm going to ask my State Assn to join (Illinois State Coonhunters Assn) and I've also talked with my local Pheasants Forever chapter and Ducks Unlimited chapter and both feel this is a good idea and will be bringing it up at their next meeting.
What I can't figure out is 55 folks have viewed this and not one is going to ask their local club about this and ask them to join.....or if they are they did not post the possible clubs name.....
That is why we the dog owners and hunters are not taken seriously.........and that is from the mouth of my own local State Representatives............why .... because we are lazy and would rather let someone else fight our battles...........and they know it !!!!!!!!
I sure hope we as hunters seize the moment and build ourselves into a formitable force that will have to be listened to in the future or we will loose more and more battles than we win !!!!!!!

I agree that it is a good idea. Honestly, I read the article and never noticed the membership form at the bottom. I would add that many of the local clubs are hurting from lack of active membership and low attendance/participation at their events, plus many are in debt or have little or no free cash. My club however has all properties paid for and has a nice sized account... it brings to mind the saying "to whom much is given, much is required" I can think of 2 local clubs that will not be able to give anything so a club like the one I am in can afford to make a larger donation than the single $100, and basically cover their lack...
I plan to bring this up for a vote at our next club meeting and will write a letter to both of the Redbone Assn's I belong to, in addition I spoke to the Vice-President of the NCCHA today and he promises to speak to President David Gardin concerning this as well.
Good post Mark!

That's what I'm talking about guys !!!!!!!
Thanks Chris & Ernie..........just pass the word and maybe one day we'll have a force like the NRA within the dog world to look after us, and put us on the Offensive regarding laws within our States on dogs and hunting !!!!
Again, good job and hope to hear from others as well !!!!!!

As President of this club I will ask our membership at the next meeting to also get involved in this to what ever means we possibly can.
As Chris Herring stated I feel that those that give much, clubs that regulary hold major hunts should give more!!

will do Mark next meeting Chesterfield Co CHA S.C. (you do no where patrick is dont you) will also bring it up at squirrel meeting tonite Pee Dee Squirrel Hunters Assoc.
Rob & Johnny.......great !!!!!!!!! we have to start someplace and for a organization to grow we need to start at the grass root level and in the future those that can will.
Every club I work for as a MOH and BSJ I'm going to make copies of this application on page 98 of the June issue of Bloodlines and pass it along and with luck we'll grow.
Great Job guys !!!
