tree problems
I have a young female that was running and treeing her own coon.I put her in a night hunt and she got tore up pretty good. She now refuses to tree period.I've tried tieing her back with another dog at tree, nothing. This dog is a beautiful track dog and was a fair tree dog.I hate to give up on her,any ideas?
keep hunting her. try hunting her by herself. if she is atrue tree dog she will come into it. i had a similar situation with my young dog i hunted him by himself and after a few hunts he is doing fine. I LIKE HUNTING BY HIMSELF SO MUCH HE IS ALL I HUNT NOW. I ONLY HAVE 2 DOGS. THE OLD GYP IS ALMOST 9 SO SHE DOSENT NEED HUNTING.
It sounds like a confidence thing and it may take a while for her to build up her confidence again. Try turning some live trapped coon out for her and being fairly close to her when the coon goes up. Then pet her up and praise her.

I should 've said I've tried about everything.I've hunted her alone as well as turned out coon. This is more of a last resort type thing.I was thinking about trying to build some hatred letting her fight a partially restrained coon. The mouth on this dog has to be heard to be believed. This is the only reason she hasn't been culled.I've had (well) seasoned pros comment on the quality of her mouth.I guess if all else fails I could try and get her mouth in a breeding. She always was/is a first strike dog. Thanks for the replies, any input helpful.

have you tried kenneling her with a solid
mellow tree dog? this may help restore her confidence as redtick suggested. then after she knows this dog isnt going to be aggressive with her,she may go ahead and tree with her. maybe just working her on a cage coon or two with a dog she likes might help.

It happened fall of last year. She was 11 months old.I know she was too young but she had been treeing her own coon at 5 months.I should have given the gators more thought. She had about 6 months/25 hunts exp with mostly good trees.I've tried almost everything except fighting the coon.
