Is this a Uterus infection? If so it can be very bad(depending how long it has gone) My house mut had a Uterus infection and had to do a Hystoreectamy and just about lost her.
Heavy doses of baytril is your best bet!! It's a hard battle if it has been going on to long!! What antis does your vet have her on??

I would do what the Vet wants ---
many years ago, I had one. Took her to the U of MN and didn't do it for the same reason you don't want to. $700.00 and 3 days later I was digging a hole.

it is an infection of the uterus, and can be a quite painful one at that. PYROMETRIA, pyro means fire and the metria is for lining of the uterus. only dog i ever saw with it was a pug, she was in great pain and had to be spayed as well.
not to mention any infection of the female's reproductive tract can hinder her ability to reporduce on any level.

Ditto all the above cut your loss and spay
We had one with it. There are 2 different kinds...open and closed.
The anti's sometimes work on the open one because it can drain. The closed one is worse. We tried the meds, they didn't work, emergency spay ($600), then gave her away. All this because she was bred on accident at a year old and we got her "The morning after" shot. Will NEVER do that again! Good luck with your girl. I'm not trying to be negative, but this is something you don't sit on.

She is open and draining this is one reason why we are doing meds first,no temp, eating and drinking fine for now
