I Have A ??? Please Help

I JUST GOT A YOUNG FEMALE REALLY NICE DOG FOR HUNTING AND MAYBE SHOWING HAS GREAT CONFIRMATION AND REALLY NICE FEET , BUT HERES THE PROBLEM ON HER BACK LEGS SHE HAS A LARGE DEW CLAW ,OR THUMB I DONT KNOW HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE BEFOR BUT I CANT STAND IT , CAN IT BE REMOVED , WAS ASKING BEFORE I ASKED A VET AND FELT REALLY DUMD. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Yes it can be removed very easily. I fail to see why breeders don't cut them off at birth. Done properly it is quick and easy.

I would not lie if asked if the pups had dew claws at birth. Fact is I'd probably tell a prospective buyer if they had.

At 1 year old you probably should take her to a vet. I don't know how much it would cost as I've never had a vet do it.

it's probably worth the time and money to have them removed. I've had things about dogs that I saw as "flaws" that really weren't -- they just bugged me.

Absolutely, dew claws can be easily removed from dogs about the time their eyes open - I do it with a sharp, surgical bandage scissor and sometimes put in a quick suture. The pups usually don't even catch on to what's happening, till it's all over.

Couple of thoughts on benefits, beside aesthetics:

1. She'll never dislocate (jam) the missing claw
2. It's one less nail to cut
