John Or Bryan Davis- Clinton Rqe

EITHER ONE OF YOU GUYS GO TO THE HUNT LAST NIGHT? WHO WERE THE BIG WINNERS? JOHN D. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS DID TO GENE FRIDAY NIGHT BUT HE CRIED ABOUT HIS DOG ALL THE WAY HOME. SORRY ABOUT LETTING KENNY GET ON THE WEST SIDE OF 13 BUT WE NEEDED TO TREE SOME COONS. HAD A GOOD HUNT AND I'M GLAD TO SEE HE HAS SEEN THE LIGHT AND CAME OVER TO TEAM WALKER. ANOTHER LOST HUNTER FOUND HIS WAY HOME YOU GUYS MAY BE NEXT?

Dave,
I am disappointed in you. I knew you was scared of me and didn't show up.

My cast scored on two coons, Luke got one by himself and Bill's Ginger female and another walker female got one. Luke got messed up in a bunch of vines and the two got him. So I had to retree him back in. Just a bad break. Bill won the cast and I think Bill's brother won his with 475+. I think that got him in the top three. When I left the hi score was 650+.

Dave, I didn't go. The dog I'm hunting is already qualified, so my only reason to have gone would have been to help as a nonhunting guide.

Bryan, what kind of turnout did they have and did they have enough guides?

Dave, I think we may have been coming up the road as you were pullling away, I'm not sure. We went to another spot but came back to it, later and thats where Gene had the Plum Tree Episode that pretty much did him in. He was doing alot of mumbling and sighing after that turnout but he was a good guy to hunt with, the breaks just didn't go his way. Kenny and I hunted that same spot about a week or so ago and treed a coon there, so it was probably fresh on his mind, too.

I'd say Kenny will be hunting a B&T before I'm hunting a walker, no offense intended, lol. I've hunted with Luke a few times and Bryan definitely has no reason to change. I can't change, Billy's a pretty good sized boy and he'd wear me out in a second!!

BRYAN YOU'RE KIDDING ABOUT THOSE GUYS WINNING AREN'T YOU?? I SURE HOPE YOU ARE. THOSE 2 HAD QUIT ALL SUMMER AND WERE JUST GRIPPING ABOUT THE GUYS THAT WERE HUNTING. I SHOULDN'T SAY IT BUT I HOPED THEY HAD QUIT. TALK ABOUT GUYS THAT ARE HARD ON YOUR COON POP. THEY DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THE GUN. MAN I HATE TO SEE THEM START AGAIN. JOHN ALL KENNYS SPOTS ARE PRETTY GOOD IT WAS JUST THAT THE CORN ALL SEEMED TO BE ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE HIWAY. I'VE SURE HAD SOME GOOD HUNTS WITH HIM IN THAT AREA OVER THE YEARS.

Posted by Bryan Davis on 08-10-2003 06:17 PM:

John,
They hunted around 55 dogs, 13 casts. They had enough guides plus some. I wanted the deadline later they told me that they could replace me with some else. So I kept my mouth shut and took the deadline they wanted.

Dave,
It will be a cold day in, well, you know where, before you see me leading a walker.LOL

COLD DAY WHERE? I THOUGHT MAYBE WE COULD TRADE A STORM X LADY PUP FOR A GOOD ONE OUT OF LUKE. WE COULD BOTH SUFFER A LITTLE THEN. JOHN I LIKE KENNYS FEMALE OUT OF LOOKING UP JEB SHE SEEMS LIKE SHE CAN SURE TREE A COON. THAT IS A BAD WAY TO LOOSE A DOG THOUGH I HADN'T HEARD THE STORY YET. I HOPE THESE 2 FEMALES WORK OUT FOR HIM. BRYAN I'LL BE AT SCHELL NEXT WEEKEND AND COULD USE A GOOD GUIDE.

Posted by John D on 08-10-2003 11:53 PM:

Dave, Kenny's got a couple nice young females, I think he'd like to part with one of them but his partner is balking on that.

Yep, that was too bad about his Plott female, and that was bad for their breed, too. Like he said there can't be too many Dual Gr Plott females and to lose just one is a big loss.

Bryan, if Dave shows up at Schell City next weekend, just make sure he has a compass, a life jacket, and a good set of oars, before he goes to the woods, especially if Walt is the guide. (We're scarred for life, ain't we, Dave?)

Bryan, is Schell City's hunt a MO Fed. points hunt?

Posted by Bryan Davis on 08-11-2003 02:35 AM:

I am sure it is, John. Walt tries to get the club involved in everything.

I wish I could guide you guys next week but will be hunting a pup out of Luke. I bought half-interest in him last weekend so I will hunt him. I need to get him finshed to Nite ch so I can compete with you guys. I already have a second on him. He did ok last night by getting by himself and treeing a coon at Clinton, the only one with plus points early in the hunt until cattle starting chasing him and he started barking. So they scratched him for chasing cattle. Kind of a bad deal. I think they were upset that a 15 month old pup was putting the hurtin' to them.

Walt had to go back out last night at 3 in the morning to find his dog and someone elses. I am not sure though if they needed the boat. LOL

EVERY TIME I START TO FORGET THAT NIGHT WE TOOK THE BOAT RIDE SOMEBODY BRINGS IT UP AGAIN. IT WAS ALMOST ENOUGH TO JUST MAKE A GUY QUIT. NEVER BEEN ON A HUNT ANY WORSE THAN IT WAS. I WILL STICK UP FOR WALT AND SAY THAT THE LAST FEW TIMES I'VE BEEN BACK OVER THERE WE HAVE GOOD HUNTS AND TREED SEVERAL COONS. IF IT GETS TOO BAD I WILL JUST HUNT RIGHT AROUND THE CLUB HOUSE. HE HAS SHOWED ME ENOUGH PLACES I COULD ALMOST GUIDE MYSELF. JOHN I TALKED TO GENE LAST NIGHT BEFORE I WENT HUNTING AND I THINK YOU MAY HAVE PUT HIM IN RETIREMENT. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN HIS DOG LOOK THAT GOOD AND THAT BAD IN THE SAME NIGHT. HE WON'T TELL EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED BUT IT MUST OF BEEN BAD.

Posted by John D on 08-12-2003 11:25 PM:

That was my all time worst hunt, too. Although I've had a couple daylight episodes since then, another boat ride, and 2 more Four Rivers' experiences. I'm just glad I wasn't with Walt when he told that guy his boat motor was busted. There's alot of places to hide a body when your backyard is 14,000 acres, lol.

I've never seen a dog look that good and that bad in the same night, either. Its too bad one of us didn't get a win out of the deal. I'm going to go back and pick some of those plums, squeeze out the seeds and plant orchards in all my hunting spots, so better watch out.

Did anybody hear any results on the Clinton RQE?

Posted by DAVE FREEMAN JR on 08-12-2003 11:59 PM:

HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE STAFFORD BOYS FROM DOWN HERE PLACED 3RD AND 8TH. I CAN'T BELIEVE MAC HASN'T CALLED ME AND FILLED IN. YOU GUYS HUNTED ANY THIS WEEK? I'VE BEEN THE LAST 2 NIGHTS HUNTING STORM AND MY YOUNG GUNSLINGER FEMALE. I THINK SHE JUST MIGHT MAKE A DOG. GOING TO THE STOCKTON PKC HUNT TONIGHT AND TRY TO WIN ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO COME TO SCHELL THIS WEEKEND.

Posted by Bryan Davis on 08-13-2003 01:04 AM:

I've been hunting some. Trying to get this pup ready to hit the hunts. He is a little out of shape. Hunting Luke by himself some now. I might hunt the PKC hunts hard in the new year. So be on your toes, Dave.

I went last night and made a couple dumps, my light started blinking on my way to the 2nd tree, and held just long enough for me to find the coon, but that was it for the night. I made a little solder repair on it this evening, I'll find out tonight what kind of job I did.

I dunno if I'll go to Schell this weekend or not so you guys don't go and lick your chops just yet.
