???? On Dog Having Ehrlichia Tick Disease
I took my dog to the vet after noticing that he just wasnt himself in the woods. He tested positive for ehrlichia tick disease. The vet prescribed medicine and told me not to hunt him till he has taken all the medication. Its been a month and his ability to smell seems to be worse if anything, and sometimes he acts like he dont have a clue what he's doing in the woods. I've had a couple of guys tell me that he will never be the same again, and some say it will just take time. Does anyone have any experience in this situation and can tell me what to expect. thanks !!

It affects some and others it does not.I had one, that would get tired alot quicker than before he had it.

The treatment for ehrlichia is doxycycline at basically double the normal dose for 8 full weeks. Stopping it short of 8 full weeks is to ask for a relapse.
Please don't take any chances with this. It's very serious. Doxycycline at that dose can upset his stomach, so be aware of that. He probably will not feel like himself until he's done with the treatment. You wouldn't either, so let him be for now.

I HAVE GOT SEVERAL HOUNDS IN OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS WITH THIS...I HAVE TREATED ALL WITH DOXY AND ALL WOULD GET OVER IT FOR THE TIME BEING, HOWEVER IF THEY WERE EVER STRESSED AGAIN IT WOULD RELAPSE....HAD SEVERAL TOUGH HOUNDS THAT I SOLD BECAUSE I COULD NOT HUNT THEM IN THE OKLAHOMA SUMMER HEAT OR THEY WOULD STAY DOWN ALL SUMMER...DIDNT SEEM TO HAVE MUCH TROUBLE IN THE WINTER WHEN IT WAS EASIER ON THEM....HAD ONE NICE 2YR. NITE CH. PLOTT HOUND I BOUGHT DIE FROM IT SHORTLY AFTER I GOT HIM PURCHASED...THIS STUFF CAN BE BAD NEWS!!!I LEARNED THE HARD WAY AND SPENT LOTS OF $$$ LEARNING...
GOOD LUCK,
RYAN ELLIS

use the Imzole shots and you will see fewer dogs relapse due to heat or fatigue.
