serious ? please help
ntch Trackmans Outlaw Son "Buddy" was found dead in his dog house today. I fed the dogs after work on tuesday and a friend came over to take Buddy and hunt him Wed afternoon. I had plans to go fishing with a buddy so I was going to take care of the dogs when I got home. I leave for work early in the mourning so I don't mess with them then. He had one of those green and tan plastic dog houses like you get at a farm store and I had screwed the top to the bottom so that if it came a big wind it wouldn't blow the top off. Long story short, the top was broke off the bottom part and the side and back of the bottom were also broke. I guess where I had screwed it together. It was like a bomb went off in the dog house. He was on a chain that had a steel spike drove in the ground and we did have a thunder storm. Could it have been lightning or what that killed my dog? He was unmarked and had water so I know he didn't die from lack of care or another animal. The house was sitting against a tree so that he was in the shade and there was two other trees that he could reach on his chain but not get wrapped around. I know that cattle can get struck by lightning but have never heard of this before. Just made the dog ntch like two months ago and had a female to bred to him in 9 days and now this. Any ideas would help. Thank you. Chris
not sure what to tell ya, sounds like it could've been lightning but im sorry to hear that your dog died

That really sucks. He was the only one I had ready to put in the hunts. I have a young blue dog that is real well started but not ready for hunts yet. I guess he will get all the attention now.
Chris
I am sure it could have been lighting, did you look at the tree to see if any bark was off. I had 4 500 lb calves that were killed by lighting under a big oak tree one time and like your dog not a mark on them. Sorry to hear about your dog.

To hear of your lose. I can imagine how it feels to lose a good dog that you have invested alot money and time in.
Chris,
Sorry to hear about your hound. I would say lightning. My grandma was struck one year while she was out putting up fence. It entered through her shoulder and out through her hip. She was grounded to a fence post at the time and it did not do a thing to her. She did not have a mark one on her.
I had a distant cousin that was struck once and it killed her...... I wil tell you one thing.... WHEN I SEE THE LIGHTNING COMING, MY FAT A$$ HEADS FOR THE HOUSE!!!!!
Take care, and good luck with your hounds.
Scott
Chris, sorry to hear of your loss. Is this the same dog that I hunted against at the zone hunt last year? He was a good one.
VB
Hey Virgil, how are you and the better half? Unfortunatly yes it was the same dog. Got him lined out and made him ntch and just my luck. Thanks to all who replied! I will not say he was the best but I have seen him do some real nice work and he has also made both of us look real dumb. He just had something about him that I liked so I kept him and tried to work on jis flaws. I enjoyed hunting him while I had him and hope that he atleast didn't suffer what ever happend. I guess there is always a greater plan for everyone and everything. Only the big man upstairs knows the whole story and how it will end.
