moon
read the moon phase for the movement ,,, or the tide if your are on the coast , it tells you when to turn loose to get better hunting as a average

time
I have three feeders out with game cameras on them and the coons at this time (last two weeks) are coming in the most after midnight. They are periodically there before 11 but the most consistent time has been well after 12.
Right now I would say your best shot is 3 am, with it so dry at least you may get some dew on the ground to hold some scent and also thats when I am seeing three and four at the feeders. Prior to two weeks ago I was seeing them at 9:30 to 10 pm but even then they were also coming in after midnight.

I just came in from hunting, its 6:05. I went last night about 9:30 and treed one, he trailed it a little ways. I could not sleep so about 3:30 i loaded him again and turned loose 2 more times, treed two easy ones. So go figure, i hunt alot between 3-6 and it just varies a little. Trott.

i think that the coon are running right before it gets dark. ive been leting loose bout 10 or so. that way the tracks aren't extremely cold but yet they will give your dogs a little of a challenge on some of the coon.
It is cooler early morning hunting in the summer than it is in the early evning .
