Help with pup

I brought home a new b&t pup yesterday she's 7 months old and today she is passing some light bloody mucus. my doc is closed for the weekend but he takes emergency calls. should I call him or is this just from the getting nervus in a new place. I've never seen this before.

Thanks
Bill

what is she doing now is there still the blood in her stool? If so i would spend the money and get her to a vet.

It could very possibly be stress related. More than likely shes wormy though. There are a few other, more serious things it could be but more than likely its going to be something like the first 2 things I mentioned.

Might also find out what feed the pup was on at that age some foods might hurt thier belly. Just a thought for you. But I think Emglishman is right.

Seems like when you see blood& mucus in the stool its hook worms.

could be a bunch of stuff

Did she come in contact with any dirty water (creek, puddles, etc)? Has she been exposed to any dogs who may have a "bug" of some kind.

I've had quite a bit of experience with giardia, clostridium, whip worms (it's a long list of intestinal bugs) - all can be a cause of bloody mucousy stools. BUT, you need to get her to a vet to do a fecal smear in order to tell you what you got - anything else is just a guess.

Is she taking any food or (more importantly) water? Keeping her hydrated is important - make sure she's taking as much water or pedialite as you can get down her.

What I'd do... call the vet.

Marc Price

P.S. let us know what happens.
