Nice looking female! I hope she keeps making you proud!
I'd still give her a shot on the bench, work with her a little and she should tighten up those toes.

CANT TREE COON WHY SHOW THEM,DAVID

Posted by Mike Cayton on 07-10-2008 06:36 PM:

Why show ? because they own it and can do what ever they want, Ive never shown a dog in my life, but there are people who like to show, I like to watch them . Good Luck with your pup Mike Cayton Timberlake Kennels

well i like to show dogs, my older dog tree's but wont hunt, i show her, now she's fat but is still my baby, and i guess my dogs arent just hunting dogs to me, i let my dogs sleep in the house when it gets to cold and i can call all 3 of my dogs off of a tree and they will walk next to me (away from ANY COON) without a leash, i dont use leashes, or bark collars or shock collars, i beleive a dog should be trained, and should be WILLING to make you happy not be forced

oh yeah my pup tree'd her 1st coon the other day, read my 2nd post on here

but thanks for your input and Mike, thanks for the encouragement it helps a lot

I agree John, My 3 boys who are now 23, 22, 18 have all shown my hounds and they still have the kids trophy sittting out in the Kennel building with the 100s they won handling dogs in the hunts, nothing better than to see that little fellow walk off with that little trophy and leading his hound JMO We need to keep the kids in this sport ,it may keep them off the streets. true, im only 16 and i started doing stuff w/ Alton and Theresea Keys when i was about 7, even though Theresea died and Alton kinda got out of the sport when she died, im still here, with dogs from their lines might i add lol, and im starting to get more kids into it, a lot of kids around here, about my age, hunt coon but dont compition do it, and im starting to show them the ropes, i dont know scoreing or anything but im doing my best, i stopped hunting for a while cuz i didnt have a dog and i was in my "chase the boys" stage (by the way i am a girl lol)

and i love seeing kids my age, or younger doing more w/ the hunts (im trying to get my boyfriends' fat brother, who is the exact same age as me, same birthday, to do some stuff w/ me, but he's to lazy)

go ahead and show your dogs i hope you have fun doing that we show our dogs and try to make it a family event and we have a good time doing it! our ideal dog is one with a head full of brains, must be atree dog and must have the coon in the tree. our clifford dog qualified for the world show last year but mainly we use him for a hide dog his breeding is double hoosiers holiday gamble and double yellow river red rocky we caught 99 coon with the dog the first year we had him. he never let us down on a cold frosty or snowy nite show dogs and coon dogs go hand in hand enjoy the best of both worlds and don't let anyone tell you any different
