I have read this Interview twice this morning and another Breeder Jumped to Mind that was the Most Successful and Consistent breeder ever Using Mostly the Same Breeding Practice .. "Dave Dean"

He always went back to his orginal Gene Pool at or about 3 to 4 Generations.. But he started with a Loaded Pedegree of two Seperate lines Vaughn and Sebastian .. Then he would dip into Some Smokey River to Start the "Jet Line".. But Always using the very Best.

I talked to a very nice gentelman one night at a hunt. We got to talking about breeding and he told it to me like this. You have a nice female you breed her then you have half of what you started. Then as Blackand tan breeders we would breed our pup off of that litter again. Then we would have a fourth of what we had to start with.
Then so fourth and so fourth untill eventually you have none of the blood you started with. Be it Smithhurst, Myers so on and so fourth. Thats why other breeds are doing better by Line breeding back. In my opinion.

Also , I told a while back about one of the two Majestics that I hunted with was mean as a snake and you said you knew of a breeder that had the reputation for that. Tell us about the 18 month old that you sent to BC who had to be put down because he wouldn't do anything BUT fight the other dogs.

I posted a video a couple years ago of a wild bear taking my dog down when he came out of a tree. We walked along side of that bear and the dogs for several minutes till they treed him again. So , I know it's possible to get videos like that if you hunt enough.You got any videos of anything like that?

Remember folks , just because a guy post articles on good breeding practices doesn't mean that he practices them himself.

I'am going to have to ask for some more Info on THis !! I have never sent anything but Pups to BC.. So you'l have to put up some more or Shut up !!

Oh , sorry I didn't spell it out........
The guy did say it was a pup and he kept trying him untill he was 18 months ( maybe not exact ).

You're wasting your time Jackbob. Steve breeds the best hounds on the planet regardless of game or terrain. Sure, he cant supply any references, or show one with game that's treed, or even show one being hunted at night! They all appear to have no muscle tone because they lay around the house all day and night not getting hunted..but they're the best! Of course who would have time to hunt when he has seven million 30 year old magazines to go through, finding every article that mentions big, fat, slow, long eared culls. Once he finds said article he has to scan it of course, then save it, then upload it, then post it on here for like 2 maybe 3 people to read. Yup, his dogs are the greatest...and he's the greatest breeder ever. Hmmm...Come to think of it I saw an article on him in "Modern Cull" magazine lol.
