Northern Alabmama Hunting???

I'm from northeast Texas and I will be moving to the Huntsville, Alabama area at the end of August. I'm wondering what the hunting is like over there? Is there very much land to hunt? Any competition hunts in the area? ect.... If anyone is in that area or has hunted there before, let me know what it's like.

Thanks a lot,
Colby Brown

Colby, I live in Huntsville..............The hunting around Huntsville is non-existance.

With the growth this area as seen over the last 5 years and the growth that keeps growing, it's hard to find good hunting grounds around Huntsville.

Huntsville be be getting over 5,000 jobs transferring here because of BRAC..............That means more developments.

I normally drive 45 min to 1 hour to turn out.

We have some good state management land near us open during Sep 1st to Feb 28th.

Then we have the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge open for about 17 days during Feb. each year.

Coon are thin in North Alabama.

As far as clubs close to Huntsville : Skyline, Lacey Springs, and Arab.

Then you have the clubs just right over the TN state line.

There is no shortage of clubs to attend.

Thanks for the information. I am looking into buying a place in Madison, Athens, or Arab. I plan to go that way in a few weeks to look for a house. I will be working at the Redstone Arsenal. Do you know if there are any hogs to hunt in the area?

There is some hogs to hunt (very few)...........I know Wheeler allows it when it is open.

If you wanted to hog hunt in Alabama.............you'd want to hunt in LA (Lower Alabama).

North Alabama

Lot of Hills up their too
I live in LA and it is mostly flat and pleanty of Coons and places to hunt, we have a large MG Area down on the Mobile Delta area that should be full of Hogs and Coons.

Colby,

I live 45 mins from Huntsville.

We have plenty of hogs here.Just come get em.

Also, about 30 mins from huntsville you have Goodsprings,Lexington and Hillsboro clubs to go to.

When you get over this way, give me a call and we will go.

Drew is right, not much to hunt on in Huntsville.

But since you are gonna be working at the Arsenal, there is some nice hunting there.
