The only time that you should look down on anyone is when you're helping them up.
I dont believe the chocalate thing. My house dog that weighs about 7 lbs last week ate a whole hersheys chocalate candy bar. Didnt do any thing to him but made him want more. lol

If they get enough of it at one time, it will kill them. It is also poison to humans....IF you can eat that much. Our poison threshold of chocolate is much higher than a dogs however.
Our standard poodle used to open the Christmas tins of oreos and chocolate covered cherries. Never managed to hide them well enough from her as she was tall enough to reach every counter space for them. It never failed that someone would forget to put them up high, she'd come right behind us within minutes and eat them all. Nice washing cordial cherry goo off a poodles mustache...
She lived to be 17, maybe they should re-think the chocolate thing, it may have increased her life span!

Dark Chocolate is the worst and a lot of dogs have a higher tolerance to regular milk chocolate. It has been proven to poison them but they have to eat a large amount all at once and have a low tolerance to it.
For example, our male Plott, Dog, ate a 2 lb bag of M&M's last year and a chunky bar and he was fine. My uncle's yellow lab on the other hand, got a hold of a half a small chocolate bunny last year and he got really sick and they had to make him throw it up. YUCK!

Chocolate IS toxic to dogs.
I wish people would quit pushing the envelope on this one and insisting to others that it's okay. It's not. Your dog may very well live to enjoy it or just get a tummy ache but one day, he may ingest enough to kill him. It is not something I panic over of course but if it's something that is that bad for your dog... why chance it at all??
Here's an article with more info on the amounts and types of chocolate as it applies to dogs...
http://www.talktothevet.com/ARTICLE...colatetoxic.HTM
I hope your all reading the article. There are many other issues, not just chocolate.
and I'd love it if you were to comment on the article.

Everyone knows not to give a dog chocolate, most people don't. Things happen sometimes like the above posts. I'm just wondering why bring it up when it's common knowledge? Nothing else worth posting?
