What all do you hunt?

Before we know it all the hunting season's will be in full swing. Just wondered what other types of game any of you like to hunt.
I have a great passion for bow hunting deer.In fact,I love it so much that if my wife said I had to give up either deer hunting or coonhunting.....well,the dogs would have to go......LOL
Just starting to get into turkey hunting too and thats pretty exciting to hear ol Tom gobble back at you!

Sounds like we`re two peas in a pod, but I wouldn`t get rid of my dogs. If I couldn`t have but two things two hunt it would be coon and turkey.

Too many animals, too little time!!

I like to bowhunt whitetails and turkeys. I also love to run the hounds. Just started that a few months ago. I am afraid my passion has turned away from archery hunting. I am thinking about selling out. I really enjoy working with the hounds and I think that is where I am going to put my efforts and energy, for now anyway. I will not stop hunting the whitetails all together, I will just blow the dust off of the 30-06 and poke holes in them that way.

Besides coon I would have to say about everything in the woods that has a season on it. I love hunting about anything that moves, deer, squirrell, rabbits, turkey, well you get the point.

along with coon i like squrriel, rabbit and deer...........

Posted by engman99 on 08-06-2003 08:59 AM:

I used to deer hunt a lot.Now I deer hunt a little.Just not enough action to keep me interested anymore.Plus,I hate spending all those hours in a treestand while thinking about all the work I need to get done around the house.
I cant get enough turkey hunting though.Love it.Aint nuthin' much funner than callin' in a big ole' longbeard an' puttin' the whammy on 'im.
Other than that I squirrel hunt a little.

Hunting and Fishing

Well Rusty, I know you have been squirrel and rabbit hunting with me, I have the hunts on video tape. Go to my web page at http://lakelandmtcurs.homestead.com/MtCurs.html and click on the mpg file there to see Rusty's boys and my Cur Lucy. These days, I spend about as much time following my beagles on rabbits and and Curs on squirrels as I do coonhunting. I used to only focus in on coonhunting, it was all I had time for. But, there are some days I will run the beagles for a couple of hours, go home and get the squirrel dogs and tree a couple of squirrels. Then I go home and take a nap. And finally, I go coon hunting that night. And the best part of it, Frances Gail lets me get away with it. I do find squirrel and rabbit hunting a little easier than coonhunting thses days. This time of year, I like to catch a big catfish.

Besides coon, I hunt deer(bow, Blkpdr, and rifle), turkey, ducks, geese, small game and predators. We utilize the meat all year long and rarely have to buy any. Sometimes there just isnt enough freezer space...lol

I used to

deer hunt a lot and quail hunt with birddogs.I have taken some big bucks in the past but it just doesn't excite me anymore.Last night while coonhunting my partner and I were walking along a little creek and a big buck stepped out in front of us about thirty yards away.We counted 12 points plus the eye tines.I kept waiting for the adrenline rush that used to come with seeing one like that but it never came.He was a beautiful animal and I wish I had taken my camera along. We walked on and shortly one of the hounds struck a track and that Rush I was talking about was there immediately, making my heart beat stronger and a little faster.I do miss raising and training the birddogs though but for now will stick to hunting my hounds and trying to remember to carry the camera along to take pictures of the wildlife.

coondawg,
If you'd like to hunt IL. for deer I might be able to set you up. I got private land I can take you too. I might be interested in a hog or deer hunt down there.
If you'll visit my web site and go to page 3,you can see some of the bucks we've taken the past few years.

I like it all, but

I tend to coonhunt more nowdays than anything else.

I still like to blast a .50 cal. lead ball through a deer in our early muzzleloader season. I shoot the first thing that walks in front of me that is a deer. Buck, doe, whatever.

I used to do a lot of trapping, but that is just to much work for the reward anymore. I hunt mushrooms in the spring!!! I have bought two turkey tags in the last three years and have yet to get out of bed in time to go shoot at one.

My future goals are to own some world class coyote dogs as we have a ton of them where I live. I wouldn't mind owning a good squirrel or rabbit dog either.
