In memory of my daughter

Hi, all. It's been a LONG time since I've been here. In fact, I believe it may be close to 2 years. However, my "coonhound friends" are never far from my thoughts. I often think about the group, collectively, and I do miss a lot of you, specifically.

I wanted to stop in here this morning and ask for your support for something I'm doing in my daughter's memory.

My daughter, Jessica, passed away June 9 of last year ... just 3 days after her 17th birthday. Some of you may remember that she fought a very courageous battle against brain cancer.

She should be graduating from high school in June, but instead I, and many of her friends and family, will be honoring her by participating in our local Relay For Life, an annual event hosted by the American Cancer Society.

I realize that times are tough right now, but I would appreciate anything anyone might be able to contribute to this worthy cause. Also, please feel free to forward this message on to anyone you think might be interested.

Here is the link to our Relay Team Page and here is the link to my personal page.

If any of you would like to learn more about Jessica, and her brave journey, I invite you to visit the Caringbridge site I maintained for her during her illness, and have continued to update since her death.

Thank you for even taking the time to read this. I do appreciate it. I wish you all well. I hope to carve out more time to visit here more often ... I do miss it, but it's funny where life takes you sometimes.

~Heide

Thoughts and Prayers

To you and your family for your loss. Especially sad for a parent to lose a child.
We have a dear friend who does The relay for life yearly. She and all her female relatives have been touched by breast cancer. In my family all of the men on my fathers side have had cancer and so far those who have died have died from cancer. Once of the ways I help, where we don't have as much money as we once did is the Notes For Neighbors campaigns for the Amer. Cancer Society and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society too... It's a small thing but I hope even little bits help! We NEED to find cures and successful treatments for all forms of cancer.
Your daughter lives on in your hearts, I am sure you can feel her presence with you,
Sincerely, Heather and Bob

Our prayers go out to you. I have a son that is now 17 and also one that is 12 and I couldnt imagine having to go through everyday without them. I lost my father 4 years ago and its still tough. He was one that I could go talk to about anything.

Hey there Slick. Good to **see** you, too.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts.

Before Jessica got sick, I'd been one of the "lucky" ones to never have been touched by the world of cancer. Now I've been thrust into a world I never knew existed, and (I'll be perfectly honest) wish I still didn't.

But, word needs to get out, and a cure HAS to be found. I'll continue to do any little bit I can to try and help reach that day.

Thank you again for **listening**.
