Hey Allen Or Todd a ?? for you please

I just sent off a young dogs papers this week to have him put in my name. I made a zerox copy of them front and back before sending them off; My question is can I enter him on this until they return. I didn't get an easy entry card when I got him. I would think this would be okay as it is a duplicate but you never know.

Boy if you cant they oughta look at that rule. IF thats the case I'll have to hunt him in another registries hunt til they get here.

Patientyl waiting, Kevin

you know kevin once that bill of sell is signed your not even suppose to put the dog in a hunt till you get the papers back. even though a lot of people hunt off the easy entry card till the papers get back you aren't suspose to do that either. would be nice if you just had a number and wrote it down on the entry slip and that was it.

These answers are correct Kevin. We do allow new owners to enter an event on the filled out bill of sale before they send it in. The reason for that is just as you imply, you buy a dog and there is a hunt coming up that you wish to attend and don't have turn around time for papers. But once you send them in, you're kinda in limbo until you get them back. Sorry, don't shoot the piano player.

Todd,

No shots fired, gun isn't even loaded....it's not kill season...

I would just like to understand WHY this is still this way..... I mean come on, I can understand when in the days gone by and everything was hand recorded, and the registration papers were filled out on a typewriter...I can see that it would make record keeping a bit of a hassle....

But in today's world, I'm pretty sure that registrations are tracked in a database, on a computer....and the dog's registration number is the primary key in the database. Given that manual or hand tracking is cut to a minimum, and it wasn't all that long ago that UKC changed the rule on changing a dogs name....that this policy is a bit out of date.

Has any thought been put towards changing the way this is done? I mean, if you are tracking dogs according to a registration number, and a fellow shows up at the entry table with a photocopy of the registration form that is filled out, bill of sale signed, and is in processing at UKC...where is the difficulty?

Don't shoot the guy asking the questions, he's just trying to understand.....

Wrong!! you can enter the dog in one UKC event like a benchshow/nite hunt on the same day if all the papers are filled out right

If you want to hunt a new dog. Sign him up on the original papers, hunt him under the old owner's name or ( you just purchased him that day) and Monday over night the papers to UKC with a note asking for them to be rushed and you will have them back for the next weekend hunt.

Don't call the state police and ask if you can speed because you are going to be late for the movie.

Joe it does seem like they are bit behind times. IN a competitive world like this is it looks like they would do anything they could to get your entry.

Maybe this will get changed one day. It is probably one of the dummer rules left.
It used to be you had to have a note to hunt someones dog.
