Patching a Boot!!!

Ripped a pretty big whole in my boots last night hunting and was wondering what is the best way to patch it. I would just buy new ones but I haven't wore these but about ten times. It was not a faulty boot but it was my fault. These are muck boots with chaps and the whole is about as big as a nickel. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

People accuse me of being color blind. The truth is I will hunt red ones, blue ones, black and white ones, yellow ones, black and tan ones, or even brindle ones; Just as long as they are English!

buy a tube of aqua seal. you can get it at cabelas. it works great on boots, i used it on a pair of mucks two yrs ago and its still holding up.. even in the high stress points. when it dries it is still soft and bends with the boot. best stuff on the market.

I agree with Dan Dogs. Best stuff I've ever used. Holds up for quite some time also.

I am trying Liquid tape on an old pair of Mucks tonight I got it at Walmart in the auto section by the electrical fuses. Its original use is for insulating wire conections in marine and outdoor situations. I rubber taped the hole and applied a bunch of even coats letting them dry in between, It has made a nice thick rubber layer. Hopefully this will allow me to use these boots for a back up pair now without getting my feet wet.

I used to patch the old rubber chore boots all the time with a bicycle patch kit from wall marts. Kept a kit in the dog box.

Never tried to patch these new Mucks yet, but I suppose it would work on them too. Kinda like the sound of that aqua seal stuff though. Might try that next time I need something.

I don't use a patch .I just smear the hole full maybe build it up a little and let dry..if you get the 5200 it will take 2 day's to dry ..the new stuff [quick cure] it set's up over night..I have used it on my boat I have some over a leaky rivet on the bottom of my boat which has been on there 3 year's and still ain't peel off and my boat run's 30 to 35 mph.that's what got me to useing it for boot patch.....I suppose you could use a peice of tape to back the hole till the 5200 dried..

Best thing I have found is windsheild adhesive ( Black caulking) this stuff works great you have to ruff up the area with coarse sand paper first. Let dry for 24 hrs.

Hoosier,it's in sproting good's where they keep the boat supply's.
