Grade casts
Just wondering, with all the recent talk about curs and crosses, whatever happened to grade casts? They're still allowed aren't they?

no! we were holding a benefit hunt for a local hospice. i am the only cur hunter at our club.i was sure i could get 1 or 2 cast of curs or "grade dogs".we also wanted to see how many curs we drew for possibly runnung cur/hound hunts in conjunction.our club president contacted ukc and they said "no". i believe he also offered to pay 1.00 dog fee.we figure hospice missed out on100-120$ that night.
>ukc said "no". <
Wow! When did UKC change this?

havin' 'em because its hard enough to get 15-25 registered dogs there...................hope that ukc sayin flat out "no" is not true...why would that be???
Not sure what you mean Perry. We definitely allow clubs to have grade casts. That portion of the event is non-licensed so you can set it up however you want and it doesn't cost the club anything from UKC. They are not eligible for Championship points but you can put them in the running for your high scoring trophy or prizes or whatever you want.
We've not changed any policies in that regard.
Our club has monthly club hunts by UKC rules and papers are not required to enter. Bring a dog that can tree a coon (or one that won't, lol) and have some fun and friendly competition. I've yet to see a dog I knew was a grade dog entered and for the most part, its the titled dogs that do the winning.
todd since i have your clarification on that i will pass it on to our club at our next meeting.he spoke to a lady in your office. maybe she was mis informed. wish i had known in time for our benefit hunt.oh well, we will get it next year!see ya at autumn oaks
