I have the same problem. I also have the same problem with charging my old style TriTronics Trasher. The problem with both is unprotected charging ports. I have found that spraying them real good with a high pressure can of electrical contact cleaner solves the problem.

I'll give that a try.thanks

After a few charges.Mine would not charge with wall charger but worked with car charger just fine. I called garmin and they sent me a new wall charger and now they both work fine..

had the same problem, called garmin and they gave me a new charger, but that wasnt the problem, so i got a whole new collar and its been perfect. Mine wasnt right the first time i tried to charge it but this new one is ten times better, no trouble charging it at all

Everybody needs to let garmin know what kind of trouble they are having. Just keep on calling them with your problems. It want be long before they will have to do something!!!! Anyhow I'd bet good money a new collar is in the works already...No matter what they tell you over the phone!

Posted by Outback1 on 03-02-2008 01:36 PM:

I have emailed garmin and also talked to them,in the past they sent me new antennas and collar plates,I know they will make this right but it is aggravating that the few times I used it I have had troubles, but on the other hand when it works it's the best tool for seeing what your hound is doing and what side of a creek he is treed on.

I broke my car charger trying to get it to connect properly. The wall unit works fine, no problems at all.

YOu guys taht continually break the antenna or the plate, are you removing the collar before you put your dogs in the box?

I don't even put mine on the collar, I have been using the harness, and even though I was a bit hesitant about doing that from the start, it works very well. I also remove the harness each time in and out of the box. The only thing that has broken so far has totally been my fault. I also run the stubby antenna. I think it is a bit tougher than the standard antenna, but it does lose signal about 50 yards before my brother's regular antenna. Have had signal as far away as 1.4 miles. Last night we had signal at 980 yards, and down a pretty good hill from where we cut em.

Could some of you that have dealt with Garmin share how long it took to get repacement parts, etc. They have been nothing but helpful to me but I have only had minor issues. I know the day is coming when some collars start going bad.

Let me share a tip with all of you. When you get your Garmin make sure you go to their website and register it. They have told me several times to make sure customers register their systems and keep thier invoice as it makes repair service go smoother.
Like I said I can't verify if that is true as I haven't had any major service yet.

They had my new charger here within the week... I thought it was actually pretty fast.

Posted by Outback1 on 03-03-2008 03:21 PM:

I also noticed the Dc20 is cracked on each side of the antenne, about 3/4 of the way down.I thought it was just scratched but it's cracked all the way through.anyone else had this problem?mine hasnt been used enough to be messed up already.

gramin sent me a new charger once and a backing plate another time both were here within 2 days from my phone call. Of course i dont live very far from them.
