Two Great Casts at SETWD'S!!!

i can honestly say that i believe that i was put in two of the best casts there on Fri. and Sat... Great people that called there dogs as they should, minus'd em theirselves when needed... not a disagreement and some of the better dogs i have drawn in a hunt, both nights ...and any could have won on any given night.

i hate that i didnt get to visit much ...i was hoping to meet some people and visit with some friends...but, lack of sleep kept me from doing much of anything... i didnt even step foot in the stud barn...

Pretty sure i hunted with the mojo dog that placed on sat night. i drew him fri. night...very nice dog.

Splenda won her cast on fri. with one coon scored...Sat she looked even better and our guide put us in the coon!!! ...i went into competition mode and made some gambles that proved to be a mistake..lol. Trying to catch a hammerin' earl female owned by the guide.. that was smoking. We both went all out toward the end and honestly Princess (the earl female) and her owner deserved the win...but in my attempts to catch him and his attempts to not let me...we both dropped our scores and a nice little english pup took the cast win by 12 1/2 points...i believe... this was this handlers 2nd night hunt ever...i was happy for him and hope he has many more casts like that one.

i did get to meet Uncle John and got him to sign his book to my son, since he wouldnt write "to the best coonhunter he had ever met"..something about honesty is how he has kept a good name..lol... my boy couldnt make the trip with me, because he has been sick...which probably kept me from bringin' a pup home.. ..i have been skimming thru wicks book and my son may not fully appreciate now..being 6, but no doubt this will be a very useful tool for him later in life, if i dont wear the pages out myself... John seems like a very down to earth guy...very nice and helpful.

Congrats to them WV boys ... Blaine Vance and James Payner on a job well done!!!

GOOD CAST ??????

SOUNDS LIKE YOU WERE HUNTING WITH CURTIS SPARKS , ONE OF THE BIGGEST CROOKS OUT THERE , YOU MUST HAVE HAD YOUR EARS AND EYES SHUT ................... JUST KIDDIN' CURTIS AND ME HUNT TOGETHER THREE TIMES A WEEK AT LEAST , I KNOW YA'LL HAD A BIG TIME

Sat Night

yes, it was curtis that owned the Princess female...jimmy was with him as a spectator and both are top notch people. He sure has a nice female and put us in some coon. We had a great time on that cast....good people and coondogs...the last hr. is what killed us...lol...if it had went like the first hr we would have had close to 1000+ or better....thats just the way it goes.

If you

drew Curtis you dang sure was in coon. I have drawn him on several cast and always did good. You know he has coon for a Blue Dog to score over a thousand only to pull 125 minus and finish with 925 to win a Walker Sectional. LOL!!!! Curtis is a good guy and I like hunting with him. Glad to hear you drew good cast both nights not always that way. Take care.

cast

I appreciate all the kind words. I had a great time while at the hunt. It's good to have fellowship and meet people as nice as I did the whole week. Thanks to everyone and SETWA for a good hunt.

thanks '06 and Blaine...i didnt stir around to much while i was there...i was just run down the whole time...i know why now..i must have been fight'n' the flu off...cause it has hit me pretty hard now...blaine, congrats on your win also.

yeah micah, i got the cast win on fri. ..just not enough to get in. ...i took a - on strike cause splenda got on the wrong end of the track and made a loop right by us and took it on...she did what she had to do but thats just the way it goes.

again thanks to curtis ...good guide and good judge...look forward to hunting with you again...Jason

Good to see how you did Jason. Glad you and Splenda at least got a cast win. How are your pups doing for ya. Baily has really came a long way. She is now running by herself and treeing hard with older male dog of mine. She ran a track last saturday about 30 min. or so, sadly it ran in a hole, but she is really after em hard. Were huntin her about 4-5 nights a week some by herself but mostly with my older male. Went to another bench show 2night and got 25 pts. on her, but still needs to win everything with comp. to be show champion. I'm hoping to put her in the night hunts by the time summer roles around. Once again Congrats.....Happy Huntin and God Bless

hey PTC ...glad baily is workin' out for ya...if you ever get tired of her she can come back to mingo.

i sold one of the male pups to a guy in western ky just a month or so ago, he has plans on pushing him pretty hard in the hunts when the time is right.

Splenda did well, to just have had pups jan 2 ....i got her in the best shape i could in a short time....lost em all just before i went to SETWD ...sad deal...great lookin' pups....take care.

Posted by Mikyle White on 03-02-2008 03:22 PM:

Well Baily is doing good, Im pretty sure Isaac is not letting her go anywhere. She well be here for life. She is doing great. Sorry about those pups dying. So what coon clubs you hunt Splenda at?? WE would like to come down and go with you sometime.
