Bboa/bbcha???
Can anyone explain to me why the Uchtman memorial and BBOA bluetick days are on the exact days? I myself like both Associations.I wouldn't mind if you fellas chose any of the other 362 days out of the year.I'de make both trips if given the oportunity.

I dont understand the reason behind any of this. I am almost convinced it was done on purpose. Nobody has come forward to state any differant. bbch changed there date several weeks to this weekend and they have also pulled out of the grand reunion hunt. I dont think any of this will be good for the Bluetick breed. Remember BBOA is the UKC charted breed assosiation. Dave

This post has had 77 looks and only Dan and myself have replied. What do the rest of the bluetickers on here think?

Dave, I sent Jim a private Email, and I'm glad to say he and his son will be coming to Bluetick Days this year. As for the 2 hunts going on at the same time, the people will decide which one they want to attend, but I think we are looking at another record breaking year !!!!!

This is
A real shame. Who ever tries to make you as members choose which association to support. This is really upsetting to me. Our state association also has had the same dates for years and now another association has scheduled its dates to coincide with our dates. Accident maybe? But to hit the same dates every time. One of those dates is on our Riley Children's Hospital Benefit date. It breaks my heart to think that this was actually allowed to be done. We as coonhunters should be sticking together, not to be forced to make a decision as to which association to support. Our association has been fighting for YOUR hunting rights for years. I talked to UKC about this but guess what? If the other club is far enough away, this type of behavior will be allowed to continue. The kids at Riley will suffer from this. I don't know which Bluetick association had this date first, but whoever scheduled it for the same day should take a good look in the mirror. And smile at your self, because no one else will be smiling at you! I was also told by UKC that this type of behavior is also going on between registries. I told them that I know that it is and that is why we are always at UKC events. You make the decision, Who is trying to help you?
I agree with you on this one. There are too many big events on the same days. Although we would love to travel to others, we attend the local events only. We will be there to support RILEY though, no questions asked!

I don't have any idea why- I just wish it hadn't happened! This same type of thing has occurred in the cur breeds ( omcba and Kemmer), and all it does is divide.
Basicly Out West Difference
I respect the fact they do have a hunt in Bill Utchman's honor, and would love to see this happen in the BBOA organization holding hunts to honor such greats as Dave Dean, Ed Mead while they are still here on this earth. These two lines are no doubt the most successful in the larger hunts that any blueticks are entered in. Ron Taylor is living proof of this as he no doubt at the present time holds this honor of being the more successful in the nite hunt competition, and has won more with his blues than any other for a while now. If in fact the other organization has changed the dates to spoil the turn out at Lagrange let the persons in charge of BBCHA come forth now to explain why this was done. This way all concerned will know why, and then will not have to guess or make comments about the reasons by speculating, and then make comments that may or not be true.So let the person or persons in charge of BBCHA come forth, and defend themselves, and if you have someone that has not got the leadrership to come forth to explain then you should replace her/him with someone that can handle the job.

Busssssssy Time of Year
Hunts during March --- May are very well attended. With this being said, every weekend is booked with a hunt. State hunts, association hunts, qualifying events, etc... both UKC & PKC are somewhere around.
I would enjoy attending the Utchman Memorial but for the past few years I have had work conflicts. Bluetick chartered hunts are always among my favorite hunts to attend.
A hunt is conducted to generate $$$ for the sponsors. Association hunts are conducted for similar reasons but members come for more than just the hunt. When dollars generated quit meeting expectations the hunt date or location will change or stop.
If you have a personal or malicious agenda and are surviving as a representative for an association you should resign now.
Ray, coondogedog, & Wild Mountains, I can only put forth what is known
Just looking at the Bluebooks for the last couple of years tells the whole story
in 2003
National Bluetick Dasy .........May 15-16-17
Uchtman Memorial Hunt.........April 25-26
in 2002
National Bluetick Days..........May
Uchtman Memorial Hunt........April
in 2001
National Bluetick Days.............May
Uchtman Memorial Hunt...........April
and so on and so on..........
So we did not try and make anyone have to choose, and as a Bluetick person I also do not like the idea of having Bluetick owners having to choose which hunt they will attend. But I can only worry about the one organization I've been entrusted to run and ensure it is successful.
Rod Rose called me, the organization of bbcha did not have anything to do with the set up of this hunt, its set up and running is done by the Ava club and some of its members who are also members of bbcha
and since these individuals are not members of BBOA they probably don't know about Bluetick Days, don't attend Bluetick Days, so in their defense they probably don't worry to much about this event when making their decision to re-schedule this event into May.
As the president of one organization I can say with honesty that yes, I'm not real happy about this situation, but its done and we all have to live with it. Only time and the turn out at both events will tell if someone made a mistake.
and I can only speculate that if it was done on purpose then the Bluetick people, members of both/either organization will let their intentions/feelings be known in many forms.
Hey John V............I agree 100% and it starts at the Zone level where BBOA works at the grass roots level. I have talked with Dale Parrish about this subject and I believe he and Kenny Herman are working on this now !!!!!!! I think each of the 7 Zones has many who could be reconginzed by such an adventure for an event. Zone 7 is working on one now for Warren Haslour of the Smokey Rivere bloodline, and I have encouraged all Zones to look within their areas for such events.
As an old friend of mine use to say.......nuff said !!!
