Larry, Glad you got ur IL hunting license Just hard to believe IL is the only state that does this Surely there are more states that offer this service to veterans I don't see where this would cost hunters or states any money from other programs Giveing veterans with disabalities free hunting lics is just a way for states to show sum respect for people that went off to fight for our rights one haveing the ability to free cast these dogs and fish

La gives a discount to military La residents only $5 for a sportsmans license. If your not a resident but stationed in La then you pay just normal in state fee's. Alot of other states will let military members home on leave hunt without having to buy a license.

Florida has one also. The difference is that it has to be renewed every 5 years. It is real easy to renew but it would be nice if they made a lifetime issue license.

Indiana had free fishing for seniors for years, I think they still do. It took a ton of funds out of the DNR's buget which is very underfunded to start with.
If anyone should get a free license, it should be the Vets. But considering how undefunded the DNR's are in almost every state, I would not be in favor of free licenses for anyone. It is not about whether or not it is desevered, it is about funding our outdoor sports.
But it is commendable what Ill. is doing for their Vets.

Kentucky has disabled license for all handicap people but I think it is five dollars a year and they get all there tags and stuff like that free.
