tracking newbie need help

I bought a used Quick Trac 10m and it had 2 quick track collars and 1 wildlife materials collar. I know I have to send one of the quick tracks backto be refurbished as I already been in contact with Mike Rivers about this. The question is the wildlife materials. It has a replaceable battery but there was not an old battery in there. I looked it up online and it says to use either 1 - 3.6v about the size of a AA battery or 2 -3.6v the little short fat batteries suppossly for better range. I put the one long battery in and the signal is just real weak and there is not a tone like the quick track just a click. However siting next to the collar I still do not get much signal. I know its working as the magnet will turn it of and stop the clicking. I cannot find a model number on the collar and was wondering if maybe the older collars would only work with the 2 little fat batteries, or is something else going on. Sorry for the length of the post but wanted to try and give all info.
Thanks in advance for your help

The 2 short batteries will double the voltage but will have a shorter life. As for the clicking noise , Id say your off frequency a little bit. I dont know if the quick track has a tuner feature or not but that might help. Sometimes mixing brands of collars and trackers does not work to well unless they are tuned to the exact frenquency. Hope this helps.....

3 of mine dont have them 1 does but the battery is your
power sources, make sure its a 3.6 lithium

I agree with the off frequency. The "clicking" more likely indicates
the frequency is off a bit. Try adjusting up or down within the band. I have both a Wildlife 64 and Tracker. The Tracker collars do the same thing on my Wildlife. The signal should get stronger as you get to the right frequency and beep when ya hit the right one.

I started adjusting and when I got to channel 4 I got better neddle swing but still no tone. The signal is still very weak it should be peggin out with me right beside the collar. I am using the right battery a SAFT 3.6v lithium. I am wondering now if the battery may be weak eventhough its new. If its off freq it must be alot off.
