Another coonhound shot,

this one in Southern Illinois.

This was in the Southern Illinoisian Newspaper Wed. It said a Goreville man charged with a class 4 felony. Dean Snider age 53 of Goreville has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, a class 4 felony, for an incident that occurred Dec. 9th.

Snider allegedly endangered the bodily safety of Lucus Nanny by discharding a firearm in the general direction, stricking a coonhound being lead by Nanny, & less than 3 feet away from him. The dog was paralyzed of the injuries & had to be euthanized. The value of the dog was estimated at more than $5,000.

The Johson County Shiriff's Dep't. conduted the investigation & more charges may be filed.

IMO, There have always been crazy people, but more & more of them are moving back to the country, on a couple of acres & think that they own the whole NEIGHBORHOOD.

In that situation, the hunter leading the hound, had every right to shoot back in self defense.
Hope the jerk that shot that hound gets the book thrown at him, or better yet, shoved down his throat!!

He better be glad he wasn't here

Or there would have been the end of a barrel down his throat

Justification is a big word that is defined as well as any Ive seen in this case now what that means is if he were laying dead that you would be arrested and then let go on self defence just my opinion

About 10 years ago. I went whitetail hunting in Mt. Stearling Il. It was a deal that they furnished tree stands, room & board. When I got there the guys telling us the rules he says he will pay 50 dollars for every dog you shoot. I had a couple beagles come buy my tree stand one day I mentioned it to him & he was pissed because I never shot them. This guy claimed to have had been a houndsman a few years earlier. I always thought it was kind of strange. Mark

You know I swear alot of people are just dumb! The ones leasing our land think us coon hunters scare there deer away. Balls! They are so thick they always come back. Heck half the time they just stand and watch us and the dog

Gun happy trigger happy SOB's need to relax.

Sad Stuff...

...I hate it. There is a BIG difference between HUNTING and KILLING. Some people will never get it.

I'm sorry for Anyone who has a dog shot... I hope that each time a dog is shot Inappropriately( if a dog is attacking you or your animals it's justified)... then the shooter should be punished-Period.

I'm just sorry this stuff ever happens, Heather

We are all on this board, because we love Hounds, and Hunting dogs, in general, we share that in common.
So as a Group of Concerned Citizens, we need to stand up, for the fact that its ILLEGAL TO SHOOT A HUNTING DOG!!!!
We Have A Voice!!!!

We need this Published, in all the hunting magazines we can, there needs to be a trial, it needs to be in the news paper, Pictures would be good. This needs to be made a Very Big Deal Off, it dosent need to be let go!!!!!
